Super Glue has done the job a couple of times. But what I found actually has helped a lot is to not use those cheap paper emery board nail files. Instead I switched to a higher quality glass nail file that had a very fine surface to it. It tends to not rip parts fo the nail and cause cracks. On occasion I have to glue a little crack so it doe not get bad and then I am using clear nail polish for the little ones and super glue for the big ones.

Actually, we feed biotin to strengthen animal hooves, maybe there is a human equivalent

I admit I have trimmed my nails with side cutters a few times. :O

just use the same nail files and fingernail polish you've always used, Scott! No sense doing something different and clashing with all those outfits you bought! :)
 
Jokes aside (dammit) my nails have gotten so darn thin that I can't imagine finger picking the guitar with 'em - they'd just bend backwards and break. :eek:
 
I think Aunt Peggy covered the main points. My wife swears that if she stops taking vitamins her nails get thin and soft. So supplementing may have something to it. Don't do the fake nails. They ruin your upper nail and it takes months for them to grow strong again.
