I currently take 50mg amitriptyline for headaches, though my headaches have improved and I am starting to taper off from the medication. Will this impact my 3rd class medical exam?

Even if I have been off it for 60-90 days when I get examined with a form from my physician showing no side effects? I have only been taking the meds for 2-3 months.
 
Get a really, really good AME.

Amitriptyline Hydrochloride is considered a psychotropic medication. It requires a case by case evaluation if you're taking it. If you do not need it anymore, you should be off the drug for 90 days (maybe only 60) before your medical. But even then, a psychiatric evaluation is probably required.
 
my guidance is slightly diff from Dr. B. if i were the airman i would ask my AME to submit exam as a deferral stating the basic facts ... and wait for their reply. I suspect a aviation psychiatrist will be recommended next.
 
I'm guessing a lot is going to ride on what diagnosis(es) the doctor(s) have put into your records.

How many episodes of rx?
What the Rx was for
Was the doc who rx’d this qualified to know what else might be ongoing.
Does your doc “self discredit” in his record.....

And though Dr. LBF & I both share the FAA playbook, I emphasize getting it through in one pass. I have never seen the agency so badly constipated as it is today....

No matter what the med is prescribed for, or the dosage/frequency, if the FAA has it listed as a medication not approved for flying, it remains not approved for flying.

But that isn't the end of things.... Consulting with a very knowledgeable AME (emphasis on consulting) about your situation and asking what medications will help your condition and are approved by the FAA could be a worthwhile use of your time. Also use that consultation to ask how to properly document that, even though you were using the medication and state that on the certification application, you are now no longer on it. With the right documentation, you can quickly silence the alarm bells and waving flags, still satisfy the honest declaration you were on the non-approved medication, and properly inform them you now are off of it for sufficient time and such.
 
I’m thinking of using drone over historical sites in my county that I live. I get frequent migraines and I am on cyclobenzaprine 5 mg, amitriptyline 50 mg, divalproex 250 mg, naratriptan 1 mg and 2.5 mg, and every three months Botox for migraines. Do any of these medications disqualify me from flying a drone? How many hours after taking these medications do I have to wait to be able to fly a drone? What will the FAA do if they catch me flying a while under these prescription drugs? Can I fly a drone while I am suffering from a debilitating migraine? I was born with chronic migraines and learning disability; does learning disability disqualify me from flying a a drone? In August, 2019, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease at Stage 3B heading towards stage 4; does that disqualify me from flying a drone? At this time my primary care doctor is testing me for Pre-Diabetes; if I am diagnosed with pre-diabetes or with diabetes does that disqualify me to be a drone pilot? I’m going to get my eyes checked for not seeing small print from 14 font and distance vision; if they require me to wear glasses for distance and reading small print does that disqualify me from flying a drone?

Can I try to fly a drone over my place while it is starting to snow to get a pretty view of my parent’s five acre property?

To fly a drone under part 107 you only need to ascertain that you "Not know or have reason to know that he or she has a physical or mental condition that would interfere with the safe operation of a small unmanned aircraft system." Drug/alcohol convictions can disqualify you separately.
