Alaska B-739 lands on KSEA taxiway

SeaTac is Alaska Airlines home airport too, so I'm sure this is something their pilots are trained on. It's not stupid pilots, it's likely to be one of those 'combination of factors' that led to this, and we (and they) can just be glad it didn't cause an accident or collision.

Some airlines have rules that you ALWAYS follow the ILS or RNAV that leads to the runway. And IFR all the way down, no cancelling in the air. Now we see why. Get those lights turned on.

When you hear about this stuff happening, you need to put some alarms in your memory to double check the runway. Make sure you are landing on the correct one.

How much would it cost to send a couple of painters out there for the day and put "taxiway" in nice yellow colors at each end and take care of the problem.......instead of sticking a warning in some document.........if you have a problem fix it.

Now if you tried to do this with a new airbus would it abort the landing for you?

I say let the guys practice visual approaches without making the plane hold their hand. Otherwise you end up with this...

Did they paint "XXVIII" on the other end?

Rucker Tibbs, local aviation legend was rumored to after being harassed repeated by the FAA (or perhaps the Va Dept of Aero) to paint numbers on the runway at New London is rumored to have done it in roman numerals.

No, but I hear if you take the thing off autopilot on final a computerized voice comes-on COM1 and says "any traffic in the pattern, please be advised... incoming Airbus with the autopilot off!"

What do you want from an airplane that calls the pilot a retard on landing.

Some airports have TAXI in big letters or a serpentine paint job on the parallel taxiway. But there will be errors. I lined up on the taxiway at KLAS once...

Happened three times in two weeks at KFCM, so they painted the big TAXI marking on both ends. It happens!

They already painted big numbers on the runways!

Logan Airport, BOS, has TAXI painted on the parallel taxiway between 4l/r and 22l/r. They've had a couple of planes land there in the recent past. This can be seen on the current google maps.
