Hey guys, my instructor said I need to fill out the form at iacra.faa.gov. the firs question is Airman certificate number... the only certificate I have is my medical. Is the number in the top right the number I put?

You have a STUDENT PILOT CERTIFICATE presumably. That's what you put in IARCA. Something like FF-123456...

A bit of criticism toward your CFI... He should be sitting with you and make this a cooperative exercise versus tossing you into the deep end of the pool.

Later on in your flying career when you have more experience you might be comfortable on your own. But when you have never seen it before.....?

Yeah, he just sent me an email this morning about it.

This is the email I received.....

Troy,

The FAA has created a new requirement for getting a student pilot certificate. It takes 3 weeks and you will need it before you do any solo flying. You will need to create an account at iacra.faa.gov and complete an application for a student pilot certificate. I will then need to sign it. After that it will take 3 weeks. You should get started on it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Doug

He is correct that this task needs doing. But it should be something he does with you.
