Air Force One operating cost

Absurd response. No one can manipulate the tax code the way you describe. You clearly don't know anything about this subject. A global company's effective tax rate being lower than the U.S.' absurdly high rate is almost always due to foreign profit recognition (with lower tax rates in just about every other country that our multi-national companies operate in). Please stop spouting nonsense. I actually do work for a fortune 50 company and understand our finances and tax strategy.

Besides, my point is completely unrelated to the effective tax rate. Go ahead and substitute your fictitious 15-20% number and the analogy still holds. It makes no sense to take other people's money, use it for extremely ostentatious and monstrously expensive travel and give a speech coming out of that flying armada about how the very people whose money you just took are greedy fat cats for spending whatever you've left them with on their own transportation.

Also, please learn some grammar. It's hard to read your messed up pluralization.
No....you are misinformed and absurd to not understand that what I stated is correct. It's very easy to research and if you are not aware of how most major U.S. Corporations beat the system , you'd better turn off Fox News and read some financial papers. It's been written about for YEARS! Duhhhhhh! General Electric would be a good start for you.

I bet the president of Greece flys around in a really nice jumbo.

Looked it up. It's a Gulfstream. Our Pres has one available to him too, as well as a 757, 737, etc etc. :D

The greek government used to have a Falcon 900 and borrowed the pilots for it from Olympic air. In 1999 they had a PIO event and shook 7 of their 10 pax (including a government minister) to death.

And don't forget the VP - they damaged engines on his plane coming into KFLG a few years ago, he had to take the Gulfstream home - add that to the cost of in situ engine replacement

They didn't want it busting into frames when he/she was aboard :)

Or worse yet, bursting into flames.

Besides, if the FAA thinks the 787 is safe enough for the general public, it is safe enough for POTUS. He is just one of us after all and if something were to happen to POTUS, we do have an order of succession. These extreme measures to protect one person when we allow our "lesser" citizens to be slaughtered on a daily basis both at home and overseas is sickening.

I look forward to seeing it on Airplane Repo ;)

Dont believe a lot of these are "tricked out" with all the goodies like the AF1

Reading through this, I find it interesting. While I think we still spend the most and have the most extravagant airplane for our head of state (not to mention for a lot of other government officials who shouldn't be afforded a private widebody), it is interesting to see how many other countries with much smaller economies are also using airliners instead of standard bizjets.

Governments need to spend less money on these planes...

AF one is bus change compared to the f 35 fiasco which dwarfs it. The f35 will cost over a trillion dollars in total and the airplane is still not totally operational and cannot outperform the f22. It is a barking dog pushed by lobbyists and Lockeed martin which was a BIG contributor to the 2000 election . Shortly after this the f35 was approved. AF one is a flying command center for every president and the former president used it as such when the World Trade Center was attacked. No other aircraft can do this as it is in reality a flying White House. Sacs Curtiss lemay had his aircrft, a 707, equipped as a flying command center very much like this back in the fiftys.the theory being that if attacked he would take to the air to direct everyone's death by atomic war. We need to spend less money on the DOD. It's out of control!
