First Air Force Academy Graduate to be Sec of the Air Force!
Wow....Trump has appointed someone with actual merit and experience in the job nominated for! What a concept!

Current President of South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. Big-time GA advocate, owns a Cessna 152.

She is the one spearheading the "Affordable ADS-B Alternative" with another South Dakota College.

“$3,000 to $5,000 matters to someone who owns a Grumman Cheetah or a little Cessna or an experimental aircraft.”

Excellent choice. Also would have been good for FAA head. Any ideas on candidates?

My Naval Academy classmate is the acting SecNav Sean Stackley. Maybe this Trump thing won't be as bad as we've heard. Maybe we shouldn't be listening to those voices.

But, but, but,

Shes a woman, and Trump HATES women! Maybe he doesn't know what "secretary" means in this case and he wants someone he can drag around by her body parts.

Pres Trump seems to choosing quite a few females, and former military for cabinets. Of course business people too. So far I'm good with ALL his choices.

Heard he may pick Madonna as Sec, Office of Potty Mouth Relations (I made that up....:D).

Using proper Gov speak, that would be Undersecretary for Lavatory-Auditory Idiocractic Relations

Her career since the AF would have made her a great pick for secretary of energy.

I just read her Wikipedia entry and all I can say is...

WOW!

Actually I can say more. She has a very impressive resume with a diverse set of experiences. I agree that she would make a good FAA Administrator as well as USAF Sec. Maybe a year from now when Huerta's term is over, Trump could be encouraged to consider her. I believe the pay is the same so she might be willing to make the jump though she might prefer the USAF gig.

She is a PILOT...
As Air Force Sec, she is going to get to play with ALL of the latest toys. FAA Sec would likely be really boring, in comparison.

Hope she gets to ride the inventory.

The FAA administrator has a five year term. Huerta's still got one year left. This is not at Trump's discretion. This was set down in law in 1994.

Yeah, unlike the current pick, she probably knows what the DoE is actually responsible for.

Didn't want to go there ;-)

Both her congress and private sector work revolved around security, energy and the national labs. Don't see much on direct involvement with the pentagon and the AF.

I was worried at first - just another Zoomie to crush what little joy was left in Air Force flying. Maybe not. . .
