Thanks for the info. I have looked at it and it helped a lot. Would like to kiI have a 1946 Luscombe 8 sitting i central florida around Fort Pierce. I am looking for the least expensive way to get ADSB-Out into the plane at the best, least expensive shop.
Any Suggestions?
very old Mode C. installed. it works, but not sure if it will be good enough for a ADSB-Out hook up.Does the aircraft have an electrical system and a Mode C transponder installed?
So you want a unit that reads the broadcast signal from your ADS-B for code / altitude. Navworxs and UAvionix (not for standard type certificated yet) do that. Looks like the GDL 82 will do that once it gets approved also.very old Mode C. installed. it works, but not sure if it will be good enough for a ADSB-Out hook up.
I looked at those quickly and look great and inexpensive, but worried how old my transponder is. If they had them in 1946 when the plane was built it is probably the same one!!So you want a unit that reads the broadcast signal from your ADS-B for code / altitude. Quite a few owners I know have gone with the Appareo Stratus ESGi. It is a combination transponder/ADS-B out unit. You have to have an Apple product with ForeFlight in order to see the ADS-B in. I am anticipating going with the Appareo also. My transponder is also pretty old. I would hate to spend the money for a unit using my old transponder for input, then have the transponder crap out and have to spend more money for a new transponder. Just my $0.02 worth.
I have been watching those since they came out. I am a big iPad/apple/ForeFlight believer and have them all. It would probably complete the package.More than I want to spend but probably the safe bet in the end.
I would like to hear from some that have used the Appareo Stratus ESGiI am heavily leaning in that direction as well.
