737 Simulator For Sale

I got one landing in a 737 sim like that while I was demoing the Redbird FMX at an expo. They cheated and threw me on short final, too high, too fast, with a mountain on the far side of the runway, and a crosswind with gusts and windshear. I only barely killed everyone on board. I got a certificate in Turkish saying I landed though, which is true! :D

Not sure if theirs was 7000 bucks or not, but I envied their ability to just roll it into the conference room and plug it in compared to building it from scratch.
 
Hmmm soooo.... For $195,000, I can either have something that flies like a real 737 but can't take me to outside of my garage, or I can have a pretty decently equipped Bonanza A36.
 
Did an hour in a 737 sim. Been there done that. Will keep my dollars for gas for the little plane.
 
I have images of a terrorist A-hole buying that thing and figuring out how to exploit it....only to then be very frustrated when he is on the real thing and the door knob doesn't unscrew like the sim...

Yeah...it isn't even full motion. Probably runs MS Flight Sim and not even certified for use as a FTD/ATD.

Not really sure. The 9/11 guys had their CFIs calling the FBI telling them there was something wrong with them. I don't know how they intended to get better intel than that.

Because us tax-paying innocent harmless white people with slight accents and dreams of conquering the skies are a true threat to the society and must pay a lot of money for fingerprinting, anal probing and "terrorist threat risk assessment" nearly every time we take a flight lesson so that many elementary school dropouts who lost their jobs due to the wonderful idea of outsourcing can earn minimum wage in a position where they get to abuse people from a high horse.

Did I omit something?

It gets worse when you are an airline pilot, and you are being screened for weapons that you might use to to take over an airplane, right before you take over an airplane. Bonus points because you are one of only 2 employee groups (pilots and FAs) that are subject to passenger screening, who, ironically, are the only 2 employee groups that have access to the cockpit in flight, and wouldn't NEED to bring a weapon through "security" to take over an airplane.

We've been through numerous background checks, our employment history is known for decades, and yet, we're the only ones getting screened as passengers while damn near every employee at the airport waltzes in the back door, unchecked.

Even more ironic is that the reason pilots are subject to passenger screening is due solely to the actions of, you guessed it, a ground worker committing mass murder (PSA 1771). You can't make this stuff up!

Can't you buy an old 737 with runout engines for about that? Fed Ex was giving way 727's last year.
 
Aww heck, I already gots one of them! Sits right butween my Ferrari and my ATC simulator. Already have my application to Southwest in the works!

Yeah, we've got a couple of instructors who have to get TSA approval to take their recurrent training in the courses they teach.:dunno:

There were a couple of sims available at the Independence Air liquidation auction. I know Ken Paige (the Wright Experience guy) got one of the Frascas. I bought an FMS trainer for $50 but some low life STOLE IT during the loadout. The cool one I really considered buying is that they had an Airbus escape slide trainer (essentially just a tower with a deployed slide on it). There was also a Airbus cabin trainer but that went for big $$$.

If pilots and crew weren't screened, after they enter the secure area, what would keep, say, an Air Egypt pilot from handing over weapons to, say, passengers heading to board an Air France flight?

That function is not served by TSA. Air Egypt Flt pulls into gate A-33, captain and crew get out of their plane, an A-340 with what, 11 crew? Each with a Soviet version of the Davy Crocket in their roller board. They distribute these to 11 suicide bombers heading all across the country. This is how you do an ICBM with MIRV capability attack from Egypt to the US. Iran will probably be making even better suitcase nukes shortly if not already.

The same thing that prevents just about every other unscreened employee (which is most of them) at the airport from doing it. :eek:

Yes, you omitted that as a citizen (which you implied by using the words tax paying) you don't have to be fingerprinted or go through all that ****. You just have to have the flight school note your proof of citizenship.

I don't know why you're complaining, citizens get treated the same way, we just have a little more leverage.

Negative, GhostRider. Citizens are not required to undergo anal probing for hundreds of dollars. They can go to any flight school and fly with any instructor anytime they please.
