I'm based at F45 (North Palm Beach County) and finding my flight plans flummoxed thanks to the Mars a Lago, the "Winter White House."

These little vacays the President indulges in are cutting a serious swath through GA in our area. LNA, a bustling non-towered field, is in the no-fly zone and is completely shut down. Seriously wondering how the flight schools will survive.

No one seems to care about this. Bad!

care? ok, I care, feel better? those of us in metro Chicago had the same thing happen during the reign of the previous occupant of the WH. if you're renting you can always rent elsewhere. if you own you may want to think about moving permanently or when the TFR is announced (usually in advance) and you're planning to fly during the TFR consider moving the plane to a field outside of the no-fly zone.
 
Somehow flight schools in DC have survived. I'm sure FL will be alright.

I'm going to start flying g to KFXE regularly on the weekends when my SR22 is delivered. I guess I'll have to move over to KFLL instead which is closer anyway. KFXE is right in the boarder of the TFR

Oh come on!

I was operating out of 3CK during much of Obama's administration. And figured it would be a huge PITA. In the end, I think that he maybe averaged once a year in Chicago.
 
Word has it Trump will be in WPB almost every weekend for the next few months.

I flew Saturday and Sunday last weekend without issue (out of F45).
 
FYI F45 and KFXE are both still useable with this TFR. Don't forget the outer ring can be flown into if you have a discreet code issued by ATC. Simple solution, file IFR to anywhere to and/or from an airport the outer ring and it's no issue. I have done this many times before. Flight following also works. The times I've flown into the outer ring on an IFR flight plan I've noticed no difference to the operation or my flight. Boca Raton (BCT) is one of the places I most often fly to as my family lives down there, it falls within the outer ring so I'll just be filing IFR so it really shouldn't effect my operations, just won't be able to file straight over PBI on my way back home!

The only two airports that are basically entirely unusable to GA are KLNA and KPBI. Everything else falls within that outer ring, and can be used, just with some stipulation

For reference subpart B of the TFR

"
B. For operations within the airspace between the 10 nmr and 30 nmr area(s) listed above, known as the outer ring(s): All aircraft operating within the outer ring(s) listed above are limited to aircraft arriving or departing local airfields, and workload permitting, ATC may authorize transit operations. Aircraft may not loiter. All aircraft must be on an active IFR or VFR flight plan with a discrete code assigned by an air traffic control (ATC) facility. Aircraft must be squawking the discrete code prior to departure and at all times while in the TFR and must remain in two-way radio communications with ATC."

Don't forget subpart G though which prohibits flight training entirely within the TFR

"G. The following operations are not authorized within this TFR: flight training, practice instrument approaches, aerobatic flight, glider operations, seaplane operations, parachute operations, ultralight, hang gliding, balloon operations, agriculture/crop dusting, animal population control flight operations, banner towing operations, sightseeing operations, maintenance test flights, model aircraft operations, model rocketry, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and utility and pipeline survey operations."

They should change the TFR label to read Temporary FUN Restriction......:rolleyes:

I promise you those of us in LA suffered far worse from TFRs than Chicago adjacent areas did.

Well, there's 3 schools there now. That's more than most fields can say. When I was there it was busier than 90% of the GA airports I go to as far as just field activity.

FRZ restrictions would be the main cause of any slowdown though, not AF1 taking off next door every couple of days, so that's a different issue anyway.

I think I got grounded one time for AF1 over a two year period.
 
Hmmm... the TFRs probably helped in the sale of an airplane to me! But now I have to figure out how to get it out of there!

During the presidential campaign, the chronic TFRs as candidates flew in for fund raising was a nuisance. Most flight schools did ground school or simulator lessons. I'm sure the flight schools will survive... just need to adapt.

You bought a plane and trying to get someone to fly it to you? Where and where will it be flown to? A lot of helpers on POA ya know.

Thanks MScard88. Its first stop is to an A&P on the other side of Florida to take care of maintenance I'll want done. He'll fly it back to the KFUL for me once the services are complete. Wish I could make the flight myself, but this is a busy time of year at work.

It stinks but plenty of us have to suffer when a president comes to town. It's the SS, not the VIP.
Side note, I'm pretty sure the concept of "vacay" is totally foreign to Trump.

Whatever you may think about this President, the former one, or the ones before him, it's not their call.

So-called security is FAKE!

The FAILING TSA is part of the TOTAL FICTION of security theater!

REALLY BAD inner ring! TERRIBLE!

It's not their call, but it would be nice if they considered the impact their travel has on other people.

They don't care. They have only two missions; protect their protectee, and get as much blow and poontang as possible on those foreign trips.

Re-read my post and the one it was responding to. I wasn't referring to the security folks. I said that presidents should consider the impact of their travel.

I do have to admit, I'm kind of proud of PoA for keeping this non-partisan. People here didn't care about protecting the previous President and they don't seem to care about protecting this one either! :p

That is not entirely true. PBI is still open to GA, and doesn't have to be IFR. In fact, I just flew into PBI VFR under 91 on Saturday after pre-clearing at a gateway airport.

Operations at SUA are normal, and F45 with a little planning and getting a code.

Yep, filed a local VFR out of F45, flew just north of Indian Town, maneuvered for twenty and returned to F45. All with zero drama.

I do feel for the flight schools. Training goes on as usual but the casual renters are all but completely gone.

I also feel for that guy from Daytona that got a Raptor visit and was asked to land at F45 and speak with the SS. Interesting that they are using Raptors now instead of F16s..... The Raptor seems to be able to fly slower with out the gear and flaps hanging out for drag.
 
Don't like it? Then move. Up here in the beautiful state of Montana we don't have to deal with that stuff. Just sayin.
 
nor do you have to deal with even flying this time of year :)
