Tied Down
My thoughts:
- Doesn't the Q have the O470U higher compression engine? Plusses and minuses there. No mogas STC. Higher TBO.
- Will need an interior job eventually. That red interior always made me go ewww but that one isn't in awful shape.
- Cessna 2 axis A/P is worthless. Ballast.
- ADF is headed for worthless. Ballast.
- Cessna transponder will need updated for ADS-B, same as ours. Almost ballast.
- Why is the DME all the way over there on the right under the transponder. Neither are in their "usual" locations and you'll want it in the stack for IFR.
- Apollo 618 LORAN useless. They even tried to hide the VFR only placard in the shot of the left side of the panel by getting the angle just right with the top of the glare shield. Ballast.
- Pet peeve. The damn VSI showing a 100 fpm descent on the ground is a five minute fix with a damned screwdriver. Grrrr.
- That wire running into the baggage compartment is a battery charging cable. Is it on that all the time or ...? I'd want that battery pulled and load tested.
- Where's the nose wheel pant? You may want them on or off, but a mix like that usually means one was damaged. They're not cheap to replace.
- Seatbelts don't look original. What's up with that? Most folks replace those with BAS if they have to replace them.
- Has it had the Cessna inertia reel seat stop work done to the pilot's seat (free from Cessna). (Kinda leads to whether or not anyone has been paying any attention to it.)
- Check that Sigtronics EGT is legally installed.
- What the hell is the guarded missile launch switch for that's down on the left side of the pedestal? LOL
- Can't read what the light or button is for between the turn and bank and the DG. No big deal but what is it?
- Davtron DVOR head down low there is interesting. Again not a big deal.
Basically depending on a solid pre-buy, a decent airplane that needs $35K to bring it up to modern standards on the panel. The new engine is worth something, as is the reman prop, but...
I think it's priced way high.
Someone posted a similar 182 here last week at slightly higher total time and a 2/3s used up engine and panel that needed as much work, for $65K.
I could make a case without the logs for $90K for that airplane, maybe. $95 with a new interior. Sky is the limit with a new panel and modern avionics. Or a real A/P.
And anything found wrong in the airframe would come down from there.
