14 and 15 year olds steal LSA and take it for a joy ride

All they needed for training was how to utilize the AOA indicator, right?

They probably "solo'd" on MSFS, or that other one with better graphics.

And, let's not forget the "unofficial" flight training on YouTube!
If that dude in SEA learned to fly a Dash8/Q400 that way, flying a bugsmasher after MSFS flight school can't be that hard.

Why did we all spend so much money on our training over the years?

Too early to say how those kids will turn out. Perhaps their little flight in that plane will inspire them to clean up their act and set new goals of becoming certified pilots. After all, they’re only 14 and 15 years old and their life story is not completely written yet.

Glad nobody got hurt. Property seems intact enough. Kinda amazing that they were able to pull the whole thing off!! I wonder what the “plan” was?? They are going to return to the kiddie clink as heros!!!

My dad got caught joyriding in a 182 when he was aa teenager. Him and his buddy would claim over the divider between my grandpas hangar and the 182 to gain access.

Flew it for a couple years with his teenage buddies. Took it up in a snow storm and flew too low over town. Cops came to airport and he was finally caught and arrested. Judge ordered him to wash dishes in the owners bar until he paid off all the tach time he flew. Ended up working for that guy for a few more years.

Owner was just pleased to finally have an answer as to how his tach time kept climbing but his fuel level never changed. The early 1980s were a little more forgiving.

I tell everyone that merely "steering" an airplane in relatively calm conditions is much easier than driving a car. Because it is.

I’m afraid I still don’t understand how his tach time climbed and his fuel never changed. Unless they were buying him gas, which seems odd.
