What Henning said is just a pile of nonsense. First of all, and deep subsonic speeds, like airliner takeoff speeds, most of the lift force is generated by the top (about 70%). So he's plain wrong. In addition, the amount of lift you're getting depends on how far down the wing the separation is occurring. In case the wing is dirty, that line creeps towards the front edge. The only sensible thing he said is that enough thrust solves the problem, but that is only true because not only the top, but the bottom does not matter either in an airplane that's capable of a Viking departure. The only trick is to rotate far enough without a liftWhat Henning said.
FTFYWhat Henning said four fricken years ago.

Have to go on record here that as the OP, I have no control over necroposting on 'my' thread, although if I had my druthers, posting after a month on a dead thread would be blocked. Or, at the very least, the thread would have a distinctive color (how about all black to indicate 'dead', 'deceased', not just 'pining for the fiords') .... thus saving readers the agony of the necropost trap. What Henning said was 4 years ago!

Alas, it appears such a capability is not found in any forum software to date.
