In both mid-air accidents last year, the pilots were talking to ATC.

One night at Bowman Field(Class D) in Louisville, on one of our first family trips in our new homebuilt...we were #3 sequenced behind an Eclipse jet and C150. I know that 150 driver was nervous. He requested to land long and cleared the runway quickly as we were rolling out. He chose to knock...

Cirrus makes emergency landing on Highway

I can descend 3-4 times that rate and would be a much better choice than hanging under a chute with a slight nose down attitude surrounded by plastic and 100LL.

Cirrus makes emergency landing on Highway

A friend had an in-flight fire from a fuel leak caused by a loose b-nut at mechanical pump outlet. The fire burnt through the bottom, through 1/4" brake lines and filled the cockpit with soot and smoke. He popped his gull-wing door to get fresh air and to see outside of his soot covered...

One dead in SF Area (CCR) crash

It could be anything from a flight control issue, fuel leak, cockpit fire, bird strike, prop failure...too early to tell. Sorry for the loss.

First flight with family and $100 burger(donuts actually)

Mine were 90/60 in 2009, I was very surprised the first time in a 172S. Now at 155/130, I like the way it handles better.

How did you like the feel in pitch when the cg moved aft? I wish my instructor would have loaded a big cfi back there to see what it was like at gross and near aft limit.

Skidding after touchdown in crosswind landings

23G30, you are really wanting some excitement. I will take a 25 kt direct xw over those gusty ones anyday. Especially with winds coming in over hills and trees. We had some fun the other day. I follow all of the good techniques mentioned above plus try to keep tanks as full as possible...

    I need 100 cars..

The max we(my wife and two teenagers) have walked is 3 miles. We usually look for towns preferably less than two miles from airport. Most times I try to plan ahead and call, but sometimes I run late and everyone has gone home. It is good exercise and always an adventure. Our last trip to...

What you don't want to find at 11,500'

I would have pulled my razor knife on him. It is velcroed just left of my knee. It is fun cutting the abdomen off and watch everyone scream as he harmlessly flies around nose heavy without his sting.

The Lancair IV, unsafe at any speed??

My RV-10 specs say 63 mph(accurate) and 650'(not likely unless powering it in near stall, shallow approach and jamming on the brakes). I have landed on several 2000' runways at gross without overheating and fading the brakes with 500' to spare. Most of us don't fly like test pilots producing...
