So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Sunday was such a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky, calm winds. Planned my long solo x-country for 7am Sunday morning. Everything looked great, got a weather briefing and headed to the field. Got to the clubhouse, picked up the key for our 152 and walked out to the ramp. ANNDDD the nose...

    First Solo Boo Boo

I should probably look into the insurance more, but ours is a part 61 flight club and I have been told we are covered when we fly the aircraft as a solo student and when renting once I have my ppl. I wouldn't want to imagine what that student and CFI are going through right now. Stresses me...

How do acrobatic Planes do loops, etc.?

What a boss... Hey watch me fill up my glass of tea while I barrel roll this baby . Never seen that before, thanks for the share. I have been itching to fly outside the norm lately. Obviously I won't be doing anything other than FAA approved maneuvers in our C152 but will be looking at...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I waited till I was around 35 hours and took it. I would honestly study for it as much as you can, and when you are consistently doing well on practice tests online go and take it.

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Had just enough cloud clearance to get some pattern work in. Did 4 laps and was very pleased with 3 of my landings. 1 I just misjudged how high I was above the runway and dropped it in. Oh well, they can't all be perfect :D. 0.8 PIC in the logbook. Have the plane booked for Saturday for my long...

    Best taildragger for training

I was planning on making a very similar thread, so just going to bring this one back from the dead instead. Anyone over the last 4 years developed some new input? I am close to finishing up my PPL and am looking at a taildragger to build time. I know of numerous banner ops either local to me or...

    Mission Impossible Helicopters

Pretty freaking cool. Talk about an awesome day job. Now I wonder how authentic that last scene is with him rushing towards the truck on the highway. Edit: Yup, here is an awful celebrity news video that shows him climbing in it for a few seconds...

What plane are you daydreaming about today?

Today I am harnessing my inner Barry Seal :D. I watched American Made again last night. Usually never re-watch movies but loving this one. https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Multi+Engine+Piston&make=AEROSTAR&model=700+SUPERSTAR&listing_id=2075714&s-type=aircraft

New To Flight Following - Questions?

I'm sure all the previous posts have already answered it, but here is my procedure. If freq is full of chatter, I will open up and just say Atlanta Center, N65407. If there is not much talk I will go ahead and be straight to the point. "Atlanta Center, N65407, Cessna 152, four thousand five...

    Flu - Checkrides cancelled

I feel your pain. Not necessarily with checkrides, but the flu in general. Our school has been hit hard. We have over 20% of our students out and a ton of teachers daily. I'm seriously thinking about wearing a mask to work.

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I think a few of us are in a very similar situation. I need my long solo xcounty, 1.7 of hood time (will do a little of this in another dual session rather than all of it during the 3 hrs of checkride prep), and checkride prep and I am ready to go. But between me and my instructor not getting...

What plane are you daydreaming about today?

But I agree with OP. After that air to air was posted with the Swift, I have been looking at them all over the interwebs. I love taildraggers and that is a sweet one.

    Mtns2skies' New Plane

That's awesome!! Congrats on a beautiful plane. I'm a little older than you at 27 (who says GA is dying :D) and looking at getting the baby version (120/140) of yours here in the next year or so. Get some takeoff/landing videos when you get back home with it.

Current IACRA Student Certificate turn around time?

I forget the exact time table but it took 3-4 weeks longer than what they stated for me to receive my actual plastic student pilot certificate.
