Interesting; I have dual G5s and a GNX 375 in my RV-8... I have the same message displayed on my upper ADI G5. Funny thing though, I don't really notice anything missing with functionality. I'll boot to config mode and check for CAN bus errors as well.

Being recommended by the AIM doesn't mean "clear of the runway" is not a worthless, airwaves clogging call unless there's a hill or hump blocking the view of the other end of the field. I can usually look out the window and see if the runway is clear or not, no radio call needed for that. Yep...

Exactly. It's a waste of radio time and energy. I don't bother with it myself, unless as you said, there's a hump/hill that obscures the view of the other end.

THIS!!! Another thing that bugs the cr@p out of me are the people on the radio that talk too fast or talk with a mushmouth; more often than not they do both at the same time to become a fast talking mushmouth. Couple this with the above PTT "technique" and you have no idea what they're saying...
