    CFI-I FAA only?

What services did that particular instructor provide ?

    CFI-I FAA only?

Fascinating. Are the checkrides given by FSDO inspectors that much different from DPEs ? Wouldn't one want to pass the checkride irregardless of who was presiding over it ? So, if the instructor only had CFI-IA they couldn't teach in the plane where they would have to be the legal PIC...

    CFI-I FAA only?

One can get their CFI-I before getting their CFI ? Wow. Admittedly, I haven't looked into it.

    Fun approach into Palm Springs

What does "Special Aircraft & Aircrew Authorization Required" really mean ? Every plane I fly seems special to me. ;-)

    G1000 training materials/methods

I used the Garmin syllabuses (syllabi ?) and the Garmin 1000 Sim (V6.01) at first. Then followed up with Max's book. I presume Max's software would be as good as his book. Our local flight school is almost all glass now. I was running out of planes to rent that were round-gauges. In the...

    Grass Strip Construction Progress

Is beet juice readily available ? I remember a thread like this over on the red board a while back. I seem to remember it's a lot like building greens for golf courses.

How many passed their CFI Initial Checkride on the first try?

I detest this game playing, especially with 100LL $6.20/gal. I'm all for making sure CFI candidates are up to the task, but there has to be bounds. What if the CFI candidate with the wire question, just said, "Let me go get the maintenance manual and we can know all about all of the wires." ...

    182RG gear up landing video

No argument from me. I know that while finishing up checkride prep for my commercial rating, I was tired of hearing it at the end of the day. I don't like the stall horn or gear horn to sound while in the air. I've never heard the gear horn in flight, except where it was done purposefully...

Bob Miller's Thoughts on Changes to Aeronautical Experience

Great thread, guys. I was surprised at the "pandora's box" I had opened when I got my instrument rating. The rating easily doubled my prep time for a flight. However, I do think it made me a much safer pilot. Flying with precision, learning more about weather, prioritizing workload & etc all...

    182RG gear up landing video

I was taught a similarly. I do 3 GUMPF checks, even in fixed gear planes just to stay in practice in case I ever fly complex again. Right now, I'd settle for just flying again.

    182RG gear up landing video

Man, what a bummer to see. I never liked the practice of leaving the gear down during training(touch and go's). I always just pretended like I was going to bring it up with the same call-outs, check-list & etc. The gear warning horn *is* annoying. IRC, In the 172RG the horn is active with...

    Advice on first airplane

I agree. If the insurance company didn't preclude it, I would have rather done my training in the T206H, over the 172R. :-) I'm sure my CFO would disagree. LOL.

Garmin 396/496 XM WX on the Road

That's good. I looked at Garmin's website and there seemed to be 3 subscription plans that overlapped stuff. Knowing how subscriptions sometimes work, I feared you needed all three to get the same class of service in all three realms. Can I presume the same applies to the XM Radio portion as...
