    Online schedulers for flying clubs

My FBO uses Flight Schedule Pro, and I've worked fairly extensively on the admin side of it and like it quite a lot. It will easily do everything you asked.

    New member - CFI question

Isn't the 74 complex? You could make that guys day showing up with one of 'em...

Shower / Bathe during a storm?

Aren't water pipes a common household grounding connection? Seems logical that if the ground got struck nearby, then it would enter the house via a grounding rod, along the pipes, and into the tub with you in it. Just spitballin' here... :dunno:

Do flight schools drug test cfis

The FBO/school I worked at did, as well as randomly tested 25% of employees per year. Why is "your friend" so worried about being drug tested???

Why is it called base leg?

Uh-oh, somebody just revealed that they haven't read AIM 7-3 (top-right of page)... :yikes: "Pattern altitude should be maintained until abeam the approach end of the landing runway. At this point, power should be reduced and a descent begun." Looks like somebody prefers the chop-and-drop...

Well, clearly they know that anyone who uses a speed loader is no threat at all... ;) I got through once with my nail clippers in my bag AND I didn't file a flight plan! :yikes: Frankly, I'm shocked we didn't vaporize the entire central US with those two combined atrocities...

Ok, thanks, learn something new everyday... I was just going off of Wikipedia and random bits that I hear around the airport that says they have 2 ATRs that operate in Micronesia on a codeshare as United Express. Sort for the thread derailment; continue... Lol

Well shoot, I wasn't thinking about the code-shares, but I suppose if they're on the same certificate, then they would count... Thanks.

I don't have any 12.5s, and neither does CapeAir, as well as many others who are in CASS and KCM... That's apparently a common misconception that it's a requirement. When we were in talks with AA for CASS recipricocy (to no avail... :mad2:), they got mad that we even had it and went to ALPA...

I'm a scheduled 135 guy and don't have it, but we're working on it. I'm curious, what sets us apart in your mind? Sure, I don't fly a multi-turbine with hundreds of seats like your precious 121 gods, but I'm still going to work all the same... Sure, it helps that we just walk to the front of...

Pilot BluLink Questions & PIREP Request

Not yet, I've been really busy with a recent death in the family. I'll probably put in the order soon.

    First autoland... Major rush

I did my first auto-land recently too! It was quite bumpy though. Come to find out, the KFC-225 in the Caravan isn't certified for auto-land... :dunno: But seriously, congrats! While I don't have any aspirations to continue with the airlines, I do want to do a minimums auto-land. I get a...

    Norcal caravan to Osh

I stopped by with the fleeting hopes that you were needing someone to ferry a C208B Caravan from NorCal to OSH; I'm bitterly dissapointed... lol Ps, in my experience, the best route to avoid terrain is generally up.

Pilot BluLink Questions & PIREP Request

I've been getting frustrated with having that extra wire hanging around for music and phone, and have been thinking about picking up the Pilot BluLink to add Bluetooth connectivity. I know there are some threads already on here about it, but I had a couple questions which I didn't see...

    Stumbled upon something extraordinary today

Sorry, not to nit-pick, but since they are on the same rotational axis, they are called contra-rotating propellers. When they're on a different rotational axis (like a twin) and rotate in opposite directions, then they're counter-rotating.

    Ron

I second the suggestion to talk with Bruce, and will add, why start with 3rd? If he's wanting to be a professional pilot, he'll need a 1st anyway, so just start off with it...

ATC Phraseology Re Specifying Airport vs. VOR in Clearance

So not the same situation today, but a similar concept: While on with ZKC, I got a crossing restriction to cross, "40 miles north-west of St. Louis at 9,000." Being that the STL VOR is 9nm NW from KSTL and taking the majorities suggestion, I assumed he meant the VOR and tuned it up, but still...

ATC Phraseology Re Specifying Airport vs. VOR in Clearance

As pointed out in post 2 by Acrophine, the wording in AIM 4-4-3(a) is exactly as 7110.65V 4-2-1(b)(2) in that it's specifying that verbiage only for issuing a clearance limit. Sure. I know I've filed an airport a couple of times in order to fly right over for the view, or because it was a known...
