Landing at closed and "abandoned" airfields?

By that logic, then I'd be liable if/when a tresspasser gets hurt on my barbed- and razor-wire as they enter my property, because I'm specifically targeting tresspassors...

    Don't see that every day

Heard this while enroute about a month ago: OTM UUA /OV OTM/TM 0055/FL340/TP A320/TB SEV 340-350/RM COULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTITUDE +/- 500FT Got a good laugh from the ZKC controller when I told them It was nice and smooth at FL090 and he'd be more than welcome to join me down there.

    CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT PARTNER

Really? I could've sworn I've been to 57 of them, but I wasn't allowed to go to Alaska or Hawaii...

    Whoops! -NASA ASRS report

Definitely a bonehead move, but we all do it from time-to-time. One which comes to mind is when I mistook the prop gauge for the torque gauge. I advanced power and looked at the gauges, seeing the prop at 1,900rpm (normal), I thought that was my torque (max takeoff is 1,865ft/lbs). I began...

    I declared an emergency today

Ah, makes sense, thanks. I've only flown a Duchess (to the point of being familiar with that stuff) that has unflattering accumulators and air starts were always a breeze. Aside from that, any comments on my logic? I figure if I'm gonna have one engine fail, I'd rather control when and have...

    I declared an emergency today

Congrats! Sounds like you handled it like a champ. Just thinking out-loud and throwing this out, as it was the first thing to pop in my head, and see what you multi-engine experts think of it: Do y'll think it would have also been beneficial to shut off that engine to save the gas and get...

    Clarity Aloft PIREP

I've flown over 2,200 hours in he last couple years on my CAs, and there's no chance of going back to head-clamps. Even the lightest models, such as the Bose, can't shake a stick at the comfort of Clarity Aloft; Everything from a loud 4-banger 172 to a B738, with most of the time in a C208B...

I got a DJI Phantom 3 Drone. What is my outlook on these things now?

Here's a nice use for a drone; Just remember to register your leaf blower with your big brother!

I got a DJI Phantom 3 Drone. What is my outlook on these things now?

So should real airplane manufacturers be subject to the same "forced" limitations?

IFR in actual harder day or night?

Makes for some great disorientation training; Turn on the wig-wags as well.

IFR in actual harder day or night?

I personally think night is easier. Turn off the exterior lights and turn up the panel lights, and you mostly remove seeing anything disorienting outside. Breaking out on approach, night makes it much easier to see the approach/runway lights, especially at at minimums with low visibility...

    ForeFlight NOTAM Retrevial Issues?

Anyone else having issues with ForeFlight not retrieving NOTAMs now/this evening? I got a DUATS briefing per OpsSpec prior to the flight, but then I generally look on ForeFlight to supplement that and AWOS as I plan my arrival; Tonight, there was nothing showing on my briefing, but then...

if I had the money, today I'd buy...

I'd get a roomy Caravan. (They're quite 'grand') But not a fancy G1000 EX; I'd go for a Garmin-stack legacy model with TKS. Then add an APE III and APE STOL kit to increase MATOW and decrease ground roll (respectively). I'd also love an upgraded engine; A -140 wouldn't be bad, but "if I...
