    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

And I went for birthday train rides on an old train in that part of the world!

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

Great story! Somewhere around 1971 my buddy wanted to get some cool pictures of me flying so we took the Flying Club's 150 to X51 from Tamiami Airport and he got out and stood at the beginning of the runway with his camera. He got some great shots of me landing doing my touch and goes.

62 year old with no savings?!

I love the story of the geek who wondered why the really cute gorgeous girls wouldn't give him a chance. I would encourage the geek to give the plainer girls a chance! My love life took a dramatic turn for the better when I stopped trying to date girls who were too cool for me and gave...

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

Thanks for the report. Maybe I will try flying in there again. I am glad that Enterprise will help you with a rental car.

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

Also born and raised in Miami and thought that the 30 minutes was maybe an ambitious number, but with radar detectors and no traffic might not be too ambitious. A high school memory is riding in a car with a friend driving about 100mph on the Palmetto Expressway.

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

What makes the area interesting for me is the Biscayne National Park. I go out fishing from Homestead Bayfront Park. If I had a gear problem and no boat I might not be as excited about the area. But like another poster said you can go to South Beach, or in the other direction you have the...

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

There is an "El Toro Taco" pretty close to across the street from the restaurant I like. They get great reviews and let you bring a cooler. I have never seen coolers at the "Casita Tejas". I have eaten at the "El Toro Taco" and like it also.

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

My favorite Mexican restaurant is Casa Tejas on Krome Ave, downtown Homestead. A bit spartan on the decor but I love the food.

    Anyone landed at Homestead X51?

I have landed at X51, but not lately. I notice 2 numbers in my Foreflight for Enterprise, the 5.8 mile away one is 305-245-5504. I believe that Enterprise advertises that they will pick you up. It would be worth a phone call to them.

62 year old with no savings?!

That cat food eating is for those who happen to like cat food. I am 62 and if I needed to not spend a lot of money on food I would consider the third world's staples, beans and rice. I have wondered if the media tried to be dramatic a number of years ago talking about elderly eating cat...

Question about pilots who fly IFR on VFR days

i know of someone who isn't able to fly anymore but used to do practice approaches at quiet airports by himself and hope that folks would keep him appraised of the situation with his radio.

Question about pilots who fly IFR on VFR days

I remember a midair in South Florida 2 or more years ago where a plane flying IFR collided with someone. It pays to be careful.

    Warrior vs. Archer

Interesting debate on the cruising speed of the Warrior and Archer. At 6000 feet a couple of months ago and maybe 12 degrees centigrade outside, and more or less full throttle at that altitude, where the manual says that you cannot get more than 75 percent power I saw the 123 knots true air...

Interesting Day, Had To Give CPR

I like this forum much better than the Red Board where they are pretty strict about aviation related themes only. I think this forum gets much more action. And at times I like to opine about all sorts of things!

    Flying to KMCO

I also have thought about doing the MCO thing but have always done KISM instead. I appreciate the upcoming pirep. The cheap gas and the cheap rental car at the Kissimmee Jet Center are pretty nice but I am sure that you can find some things at MCO that will be nice. I am wondering about...

    Swing/Day Traders

I am currently doing a buy and hold strategy with some Vanguard Index Funds. You said that you would take some discussion, I would expect about a 7 percent return long term from Vanguard's 500 Index Fund. What sort of return do your sources think you can get from day trading?

    Argh!

Interesting story. I have had a few adventures of my own with folks who weren't dependable. One of my adventures cost me multiple thousands with one of those folks and it isn't an aviation story.

    Sun and fun turnout?

I was thinking of some past year's Sun n Funs where people died. The Mooney pilot is ok, is he not?
