Question about pilots who fly IFR on VFR days

i know of someone who isn't able to fly anymore but used to do practice approaches at quiet airports by himself and hope that folks would keep him appraised of the situation with his radio.

Well, it looks like my one comment is apparently how I fly all of the time. My eyes are outside more than I made it seem, but I'm not going to bend over and explain it to everyone.

:rolleyes2:
It seems to happen a lot on here.

Does ATC actually have an accessible list of flights currently permitted to enter the FRZ? I did not know that.

He never should of been able to file in. They ask for your PIN number when doing the flight plan. If ATC doesn't have a specific FRZ flight plan on file, they aren't supposed to clear you in.

That makes sense but makes the situation weirder. One would think that there would simply be no clearance issued for an IFR flight plan into the FRZ to begin with unless it was a FRZ flight plan. That may be beyond the ATC computer capabilities but it's a bit strange nonetheless.

That's how it's supposed to work, especially since you aren't supposed to be able to airfile into the FRZ. No doubt there will be an investigation on how it happened, and appropriate action will be taken. Beyond that, I suspect it's classified.
