American Airlines Cites Obama for Delay; Hysteria Ensues

You " assume" completely wrong. Anyone who flys for the airlines knows exactly how it works, time in grade, tenure, etc. and knew when they started. As for flying for a company, if it's a decent one, it's been explained to them how their particular flight dept. works as they are hired. . One...

American Airlines Cites Obama for Delay; Hysteria Ensues

He should have quit and gone to medical school. Nothing worse than a whiner.

John Travolta and his Boeing 727

He has been a very successful actor. I seem to detect a lot of envy here. There was another actor, not Nearly as good, who became President. He flew often on Air Force one , charging it to us . travolta pays his own way.

    An A&P-IS's best insurance.

Strange that the Feds didn't check toms torque wrench. In any event , I'd be prone to Deal with Charlie at zephyr. We are talking about 1930s technology here. A very simple engine that went wrong.

    Another alleged drunk airline pilot

At any rate he lost his business, his wife and over a mill his father had left him. Much of it due to doctors writing him OxyContin or some other brain fryer. Today's he's broke, living in a hovel after repeated warnings and one trip to an excellent rehab center which he commented " was. Bunch...

    Another alleged drunk airline pilot

This is true and any sane person who has a modicum of knowledge about booze and drugs knows this. An example would be my nephew who graduated from unv Maryland on the dens list plus excellent private prep school. Good athlete, had a good solid business going , married, got into "recreational"...

    Another alleged drunk airline pilot

You spout off without any reasoning. When the coke craze was big, club 54 in NYC was not filled with poor people but rather the elite, as were many clubs like it. Many many wealthy were arrested after coming " down town" to get their fix. Drugs and booze cross all lines in great numbers. Common...

    For the hunters out there...

When young we hunted deer in western n.y. State. Pheasant, rabbits, too. A large game dinner was then held at a local restaurant and everyone ate some of each if they wanted . Deer always reminded me of eating collie or perhaps Great Dane . Just awful. Of course after they have been run to death...

Skidding after touchdown in crosswind landings

Is this your airplane or does it belong to an FBO? I can't believe an FBO would allow you to take his or her archer up with cross winds this high! It's also uncomfortable to be beat up in a Small airplane in winds this high. It sounds as though you need a good cfi to go with you and go thru this...

    A friend wants a Mooney J

Exactly! nothing strange or mysterious about a mooney. It's all about managing ones speed. It's a forgiving ,stable airplane and excellent for IFR. Get someone with time in one to fly with you for two three hours and it's bingo . I did this in two hours, from flying taildraggers, champ, stearman...

    Another alleged drunk airline pilot

The three left seats that I know that got caught, were turned in by stews, ( oh I'm sorry FAs) the doctors, three also, were turned in either by doctors or nurses, the one in the operating room by another doctor. One pilot was drinking on the airplane in the rest room, and the stew got a good...

    Another alleged drunk airline pilot

How about doctors and nurses ? Why would they spend all that time and money then get drunk and get caught in the operating room! While evaluating, nurse drunk on duty in the ecu!? Same reason.....alcoholism is an addiction just like cocaine, maryjane, whatever. Just depends on what you want to...

High DA Airports in Cherokee 140

Years ago I flew a 140 Cherokee at sealevel with my wife in it.( 110 lbs. ) I agree that it was no climber but rather very slow to gain altitude. I can't imagine flying it in the mountains . I'll pass.

interesting case of a potential HIMS alcohol/sub abuse relapse

When he returned to flying he knew that he had to maintain his sobriety and not drink anything alcoholic. This was the agreement.as Doctor bruce noted, the airlines were not understanding until they realized many competent pilots were being fired.( costly) They then decided to try and save...

    Ice Pilots

The aircraft you flew were in an entirely different class than a DC3 or the other aircraft joe employs. Not to demean you but it's not the same at all. Arnie , who died of cancer plus two or three others were in a class by themselves at buffalo.
