Dang, I wish I had read this earlier. I landed DWH for an overnight last night. I saw a bunch of pilots in the restaurant. I also had a fantastic meal at Barngrill in Tomball, TX.

Is right seat turbine time worth anything?

Yes the time is worth something. But pay for training programs like this one brings down the pilot profession for everyone. Why pay someone when you can get them to pay you? I know plenty of people who look at resumes constantly for hiring pilots and many of them will immediately toss it in...

    Icing at -38c

The FAA now says turn on anti icing equipment below +10C and in visible moisture. Obviously one would assume that at -20 or so any moisture would already be frozen, but there is probably a reason they left it so open ended like that. Covers their bases at least.

4 minutes of pure pain (student pilot gets every radio call wrong)

That was painful, but really the tower should have helped. If any admonishment is necessary, get the guy on the ground first and try to explainthings to him. But yes.... Gotta blame this on the cfi.

    Favorite/Most Difficult IAP's?

Munich ils... Start at the ndb, fly out on a radial from that, join a radial from a vor, then join the loc, if you go missed, climb out on vor track then fly toward ndb and hold over the ndb. Nbd

    How fast on the ILS..?

Bonanzas and barons- 120kts at gear down and no flaps... When rwy is in sight, add flaps as appropriate. lears and citations - fly calculated vAPP for that weight. 120-145kts I dont like flying approaches slower than 100. Feels like it takes forever. But in a 172, you gotta do it.
