Flight by reference To Stratus 2 AHRS

I have had the Stratus 2 for a while now, and have been wanting to try out the viability of using the AHRS as an actual back up. Yesterday I went up with a CFI on an insurance check flight. He asked if there was anything I wanted to work on, and I mentioned I would like to see if I could fly...

    New AppleTV

Just got mine Friday. I definitely like the speed, and the interface. It seems like navigating is smooth, and movies load/start very quickly. The remote is interesting. The swipe is kind of a pain, and I keep tending to overshoot, but getting better. Even the keyboard is getting easier...

how to find single engine planes with electronic flaps

I did my primary in Warriors, so I got pretty used to the Johnson bar. I had about 150 hours in Pipers, all with manual flaps, before I ever flew a Cessna with electric flaps. Our Saratoga has manual, and the Debonair is electric. I think I prefer manual, I don't have to think about it...

Handy tips, tricks and memory aids

I use SLIM at Shut down Switches, Lean, Ignition, Master And of course GUMPS, unless I am in a Piper. Then BGUMPS. I had a CFI that would use Lights, Camera (transponder), Action right before take off.

    Old aviation publication

You know what is weird, if I look at it in the post, it is upside down, but if I click on it to expand it, it is right side up.

    Farewell Spin Zone...

I think the George Carlin ahole theory applies here. This is on YouTube, but it is still Carlin, so be careful who is around. One of his best. http://youtu.be/uknDLr8tHnk

    Old aviation publication

For the most part he was really good for the city. But when it comes to Meigs, I completely agree.

    Old aviation publication

I am such a pack rat. Although I think I kept it because it has a picture of Meigs Field on it. Who remembers these? Definitely before the internets.

    Cleared into Bravo?

I agree with this. I got my private over 20 years ago, and I was told flat out never to accept anything but the magic words cleared into class Bravo. A lot of time was spent on Class B operations (more specifically how to avoid it). during my entire training as well as during my oral and...

thoughts on middle row club seating

Our Saratoga has the front facing middle row with the 7th seat. I am 6' and it always seems like the person sitting in the right seat is about the same. With my seat where I keep it, there is about 4" of leg room. So if we use that row, generally it is for one adult who sits across it with...

group ground instruction for flight review?

I am not a CFI, and wouldn't try to speak to the rules. However as a long time PPL, I wouldn't care for this approach. I look forward to spending time focusing on areas that I would like to improve. I think a group setting would be too generic for it to be beneficial for everyone. However I...
