    Drones are a problem

I suppose it's possible. However, Phantom 4/Pro is software limited to 500 meters above launch point (You could fly at 16,000 feet, but you need to launch at roughly 14,500 feet or above). As for older Phantoms, the highest I could find on a Youtube video was 4,921 feet (except for one with a...

    Drones are a problem

I agree that drones are (or can be) a problem. That being said, the article claims that the highest near-miss was at 12,500 feet over Heathrow. Really?? I would love to see the drone that flies that high. On the extremely off chance that it was a drone, it certainly wasn't one Joe Sixpack bought...

The perfect plane ever came on the market and my heart is racing.

So.... Has anyone dropped the seller a note yet saying "Hold out for full price! Your buyer thinks it's perfect!" with a 50/50 split to the informer? Good luck OP, I hope the plane really is perfect. However, you've already fallen in love with it and will find it nearly impossible to walk away...

A plane clipped a truck trailer yesterday....

Now you've done it! Cue the hotshots coming to tell us how they could easily get in and out of there with a Cirrus over gross weight on a 100 degree day, landing over a tall load going by, during a hurricane.

    Traffic in sight....... J/K

This is the way I do it (now), after learning it is the correct phraseology. "Looking" is much more common though, I think because "negative contact" feels too final. Coming back with a "negative contact" immediately after a traffic call is uncomfortable to some people. I am curious to know...

Even if explained, it's enough to put you through a whole lot of FAA pain though!

777 almost hit San Gabriel Mts Friday

Dumb question.. assuming IMC, how does a 777 pilot know they are headed towards a mountain?

Rough all around. From the map, they made a golf course but couldn't make the fairway. One big takeaway: Get shoulder harnesses.

Becoming a Private Pilot | First Solo

You must live in Kansas or something... To the OP, congrats. There are some things to learn in all the bluster of this thread, but don't take it too seriously. You've got time to learn. The fact that you've stuck around indicates that you are willing to learn (or are foolish, I don't know...

Should vehicles on roadways have vehicle-to-vehicle CTAF radios?

If a standard was set for orderly communication, and it was sometimes difficult or impossible to see cars you were passing until you were right upon them, and most cars were already equipped with radios, then I think it would be a good idea.

    POA Frequency

You want a POA frequency, and you believe that it will be "friendly"? Ha, ha! Take a look at most of the question threads around here and see how they end up. ;)

    Wingsuit crash

It seems like he had an out to the left.. why did he continue to hug the ridge with trees whizzing by at/above his head? Just had to get a *little* bit closer, I guess.

    When departing from controlled airport

Sometimes there's a difference between what the book says and what happens in reality. Additionally, as pilots we fly to different locations, so it's helpful to hear from others how different places (and controllers) may do things. This applies to more than just airport departures.

Gaston's Brochure images interpreted for the illiterate.

I'm illiterate, and this post doesn't seem to be for me at all. What are the strange symbols above and below the pretty pictures? I liked it better when it was just pictures. This message was dictated.

Text of the Bill being sent to the President

Maybe the reply would be, "Before I sign that, I want to make sure you're really medically qualified to fly an airplane. I have just the thing to check for sure. Here, can you fill out this form marked 8500-8?"

Gaston's Brochure images interpreted for the illiterate.

The last picture is the only one that looks like it could be taken today. What's that say about the age of the fleet?

Well, for starters, a cynic might imagine more campaigns asking for money.
