    FF Questions - Departure Procedures

Thank you @AggieMike88. For some reason, neither works for me. For a different route (out of Morristown, NJ - KMMU), I tried to add MMU6.MMU (the Morristown Six departure procedure), and it said that departure was not found. When I click the PROCEDURES button as you noted above, it only gave me...

    FF Questions - Departure Procedures

Ok - so using the proper terminology (thank you), is there a way to add a departure procedure to one's route/nav log (as you can with approach procedures)?

    FF Questions - Departure Procedures

Sorry, maybe I called it the wrong thing - do they call that a route plan?

What would make you rent more?

Agree, a "platinum" membership level of some kind would do the trick. Your regular customers have restrictions about runway length, night flying, and a certain hourly rate. The "platinum" members are treated like owners (and by the way you can even charge a premium for this if you make it worth...

    FF Questions - Departure Procedures

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere, but I couldn't find anything in the manual or their searchable FAQ site. 2 Questions: 1) Can you insert a departure procedure to flight plan, as you can with approach procedures? 2) Does FF support georeferenced departure procedures? Thank you

On the note of ATP requirements...

Great story in the Atlantic about requisite training, incentives, and the implications of low-cost travel.

    Paying for training?

While job prospects might be good now (i.e., volume of pilot jobs available), I think you have to be mindful that starting pilot salaries are DISMAL, and automation technology in the cockpit will reduce (note that I did not say eliminate) the demand for pilots in the future - which will not be...

    Paying for training?

It's a personal decision, but the economics of training to become a career pilot are awful. Even if you had the cash, you'd invest ~$50K in training, and you'd earn ~$25-30K for the first few years. The only way to make the story worse would be to borrow the money, so that you'd be paying back...

    Another plane down on LI

It's amazing that they landed successfully on sand - I would think you'd be at high risk of flipping forward. Unrelated, I wonder if it matters that the FAA registry site (which could be outdated) says that the certification expired end of Feb...?

    Question about a clearance

My read is that (assuming your clearance noted above is accurate), then you must stay on runway heading until given radar vectors to intercept the 170r LAX, climbing to 3K (and leveling at 3K until further clearance to 7K).

    Pilot shortage must be real...

Good write-up in the Economist. "With luck, the wisdom of the markets should prevail: fewer candidates means salaries will eventually have to rise, and more people will enter the field."

    suggestions on how to pay.

A few thoughts: 1) See if you can befriend anyone who is a pilot already. This community (POA) is a good place to start. Try FBO's or local aviation clubs as well. Facebook? Twitter? Whatever you can do. These people will help you get through your training, and may even enable you to cut corners...

    suggestions on how to pay.

Interesting. I thought for a moment it was @Frugal Pilot testing to see whether anyone is recommending his book or not. @fumovox - you may want to build out your profile a little bit, including location so people don't think you're fake. it happens here more often than it should.
