Glad they were okay, seems like you'd stop pretty quick on sand.

It's just the past accidents I have listened to the audio, there is always one clown that want to jump in make a comment, try to be a hero asking tower if they should assist, or instead of giving the tower time to deal with the situation, calling stating they are still number one for take off.

If you hear these things going on, shut up! let the tower asses the situation and handle the situation. If you are one a 5 mile downwind, the tower will eventually get to you. There are more important things going on at the moment.
 
It's amazing that they landed successfully on sand - I would think you'd be at high risk of flipping forward. Unrelated, I wonder if it matters that the FAA registry site (which could be outdated) says that the certification expired end of Feb...?
