Had a very cool experience yesterday... my student pilot husband has been training at KPMP at American Flyers, using our rather distinctive Tiger (see tail art)... and I guess he made an impression on the tower there. They invited us to come up for a visit! It was the first time for both of us...

Well, if he's never flown AT ALL, not really surprised that he might not want his maiden voyage with a brand-new pilot. I have a friend whose boyfriend told her not to go up with me, because I was low-hour. She ignored him and had a great time. It all depends on the PAX.

I'm in FL and was planning to take a non-flyer friend KPMP-KFMY, just across the state... but with a 26k gusting crosswind predicted for my return, I bagged it. That's above my paygrade at the moment.

I can relate! I trained in a 172, but bought a Tiger before I was done with my ticket. Briefly considered switching to the Tiger for my checkride, but realized that it would put me at a unnecessary disadvantage. My impressions of switching to the Tiger-- MUCH lighter controls. Very small...

My CFI used to say "Look outside, peek inside"-- so the emphasis is on the horizon, your actual point and the reference points around it, if you're lucky enough to have some. Then just peek at the attitude indicator for your altitude variation. The VSI would be good, but it lags. You will get it!

Yep, we're heading up in our Tiger. My hubby is interested in LSAs,too!
