    Airplane down at Addison (KADS)

Thanks for your very prompt reply. Your input as a sim instructor is very valuable. What do you think leads pilots to push a "go" rather than "(closing) the throttles as they were taught" in their initial training?

OK. Finally. The first thing taught in Multi-training: At the first indication of loss-of directional control, close both throttles and stop directly-ahead. Nothing new here.

    Airplane down at Addison (KADS)

Thanks for your thoughtful reply: your clarification (including my misinterpretation) leads us to a convergent conclusion. I hold to Occam's Razor explanations in the absence of additional compelling evidence. Your post is obviously supporting (tentative) opinions similar to mine. I...

If you're not two steps ahead of the plane, you're probably three steps behind.

Chris Cline, Billionaire - Helicopter Crash *Bahamas

Perhaps, but it is an option, along with a fully-staffed emergency hospital or clinic (cost is no object?). If the "IFR equipped twin engine helo with autopilot sitting on his helipad and a crew of two type rated pilots whom he trusted working for him" was such a perfect solution, why did it...

    Airplane down at Addison (KADS)

True. I loved the limey junk (MG, Triumph, Austin, Jag, etc.) in the 60's and 70's, but along came Mazda with their Miata which perfected the concept and retained every bit of the fun. No oil leaks. Happy Fourth!

NB: the CVR data being released along with the numerous subsequent posts. It all says uncommanded Vmc roll and loss of aircraft control. Evidence to anything else?

Get out to the road and start limping (have your wife and kids limp, too) towards your destination. It works every time I've tried it with my wife and five kids.

Z: You know better than probably anyone else that OEI emergencies demand critical decision-making and flying skill from the pilot; auto-feather, rudder-boost, etc. may slightly decrease the workload, but they aren't going to extract the aircraft from the emergency by themselves. This airplane...

    Upgrading from a Dakota

Just btw, with that kind of an acquisition budget, I presume you are liquid and upstanding. Play this to your (mutual) advantage by seeking-out your dream plane languishing as a hangar-queen that begs to be flown. Your goal, simply, is to identify such a situation and present yourself as the...

    Just wow

I wonder if this Barney Fife took the bullet out of his shirt in case he needed to shoot the other pilot.
