    Sh***ty Question.....

Preflight planning usually includes 1/2 bottle of Kaopectate at least an hour before take-off

    Flying to Mexico? Read this.

    Well said, Sir.

    Emergency Gear Extension PA-32

Thank you, Sir. I was afraid they are unrelated and the problem is still there. I will pass this on to our Mechanic to look at now that what to look for.

    Emergency Gear Extension PA-32

Yes, the entire power pack has been replaced now. I still do not understand why the EMergency Gear Release had to be pumped so many times. Gear is held UP by hydraulic pressure and is supposed to come down when pressure is released.

    Emergency Gear Extension PA-32

I recently had a gear extension problem in our 1977 Piper Lance. None of the gear extended normally, so I went to a safe altitude & area, slowed, held down the emergency gear extension lever and executed the reccomended maneuvers. No Joy. I began pumping the lever and after many, many...

    Malaysian Airliner missing?

I'm sure you could do it on your I-phone or cockpit MFD now, but the impertinence associated with your stellar hindsight might still leave you sadly unenlightened. I am a salty old Navy veteran and well remember the incident that downed Flight 655, tragically killing 290 pilgrims headed for...

    STL ATC folks are outstanding

I am based out of SUS. My CFII (many years ago) insisted that I demonstrate proficiency in every approach we could do. We called ahead to STL and were able to do a PAR approach. Were you guys on IFR plans when you were told to stay clear of the STL Bravo?

    GPS Training Software

I am an "od dog learning new tricks" and looking for the best interactive training software for the Garmin 530. I have found Gleim, Jeppsen & Sporty's. I have already completed a Tutorial but am now looking for interactive. You assistance would be welcome. Thanks

    Cherokee drivers

I confess to putting a baby diaper through that window, about 20 years ago, while over Nebraska at 8,000 ft. It just had to go.

    Hand Flying

I noticed recently that our PA-32-300R was also out of trim with a "heavy" right wing. The ailerons are visibly out of trim. Annual coming up in a few weeks so we can address it then. Having to hand fly for over an hour does get tiring.

    Old Garmin Unit

I hooked it up to the antenna and placed that on the windowsill. Ran it for an hour and it could not find more than one satellite. I will look into telling it where I am. Software has not been updated for 9 years though.

    Old Garmin Unit

I have a Garmin 295 that has not ben used or updated in 9 years. The data card is missing though. The unit powers up but is stuck on "acquiring satellites" I would love to get this unit functional, as I have flew a lot of miles with it mounted on the yoke and remember being very comfortable...

    Odd Traffic

It could have been a slow VFR flight, and that was my thought. But no transponder, negative radar, getting dark, widespread (at least several states) area of icy cloud layers with ceilings below 1,000 ft?? It was like encountering someone sitting on the beach, like in a Corona commercial...

    Odd Traffic

We encountered some traffic near dusk last Sunday that I am still wondering about. Maybe one of you has a better understanding. We were IFR at 6,000 ft, approximately 25 miles west of ST. Louis, heading 030 at 142 kts gs & 155 tas. There was a solid deck a few hundred feet below us with...

    Man Cave Honor

I stand corrected. And all this time I thought the colonel was throwing down the gauntlet.

    Man Cave Honor

It is a trivial thing, but it makes all the difference in that great speech; the last part of the last sentence was "pick up a weapon and stand OPPOSED".

    New Active Weather Sources?

Thank you for the help. I just got back to flying after a few years off. I love the Garmin 530 and Foreflight. I spent a lot of years with Low Altitude Enroute Charts and 40 lbs of Jepp binders. This technology is great. Just hate to buy and have something better on the horizon.

    New Active Weather Sources?

Is anybody aware of any plans in the making for a new in-flight active weather app or appliance? I used a Stratus 2 recently on a flight from South Florida to the Midwest and found the real-time weather on the Ipad very handy. I thought about getting one, but a Grand is a chunk of...

    PA-32-300R & Grass Field

Thanks for all the response. It is encouraging. The plane is a '77 regular tail and the field is at 1400' MSL in SW Missouri. I will need to brush up on SF takeoff procedure, for sure, but I am optimistic now.
