    New Pilot in Training

I've noticed older students tend to overthink the tasks in the airplane. Look at it as driving a tractor, not a sports car. Pick a spot on the cowl and hold that line to stay straight on the taxiway. Works in the air, too.

    Red Tails

I have only the highest respect the Tuskegee Airmen and have met several of them over the years in their bright red sport coats. It is undeniable that challenges they faced in and out of uniform would have defeated weaker men. But, they were not infallible, either...

personal preference more than anything I'm a track up, but know several pilots that swear by N up. It was explained to me that that is how they hold their sectionals or enroutes. (I do the rotation mentally to correspond the chart to the moving map). My daughter, when first seeing the 430w...

Why does heat affect the operation of a plane?

Well, you know heat is faster than cold, because you can always catch cold.

    Visual approach question?

As you are still on an IFR clearance even if given a visual approach (unless you cancelled) if you have to descend below the circling minimums to keep the airport in sight you should request a full approach, imho.

    Checked out RV-8s at OSH

What percentage of amateur accidents are traced back to construction vs. pilot skill? Even built properly, many non-factory designs are less forgiving if operated poorly.

    Checked out RV-8s at OSH

Planes have left the factory/dealer with controls cross-rigged and cotter pins missing...discovered after the crash.

OK, I REALLY want to know more about THIS news story....

Radioactive decay and a fission chain reaction are two separate processes of energy production/release.

    BJC Airshow

The gates open same time each day so I would suspect the airshow iself would follow suit. http://www.cosportaviation.org/spectator.html Check the BJC NOTAMs as the date gets closer. There should be one stating when the waivered airspace for the airshow is in effect.

    Team AeroShell

I got my ride via a drawing from Aspen Avionics a couple of years ago. I rode with Steve Gustafson, which kinda neat since he lives not to far from the airport I get the "heavy" maintenance done on my plane. I often see the team practicing in the winter and early spring over his property just...
