    Trouble Keeping O-470R CHT's <400

I went ahead with the RTV, got the thing as air tight as it's gonna get. The gap behind the spinner puzzles me though. How in the world can you seal that up?

    Trouble Keeping O-470R CHT's <400

I'm still having trouble with my temps, and called Continental's mechanic for some help. He's telling me to take some RTV, and seal up between the cylinders and the baffle forms. I'm hesitant. Anyone done this before?

Planning a nice true cross-country flight

We flew down for Sunday brunch in April and the Red Bug was free, but we were only there about 2-3 hours. The gentleman there wouldn't take my money, so I bought a tee shirt to help with the power bill.

Cessna 182P Engine Cold Start Now Different

Agreed. There could be an O-ring bad in there also, which might be causing you to not get the "suck" when priming, hence no fuel stains in cowling. Make sure you are giving it about 2 seconds after pulling the primer each time to fill up before pushing it back in. On 182J, I use 2 shots primer...

    Cessna 182 fuel burn

Denverpilot is exactly right, fuel selector won't stop cross flow. On same note, filling up might take quite a while because they are constantly flowing from one tank to the other. After you fill the first side, and by the time you have moved to the other, a few gallons have already drained out...

    Windshield sealant?

Does anyone know how much material it takes to do a C182? The genius that installed my windows used silicone, and it didn't adhere to the windows. Now its peeling off and whistling, and probably soon to be flooding my new panel.

    Induction Riser Pin Hole

I have a EDM 930, but the #4 cylinder has been normal. The #2, however, has been hot from the get go. Could an induction leak down the line be causing this?? I mentioned the problems I've had with the #2 cylinder in the original correspondence with Air Power, and they told me to check...

    Induction Riser Pin Hole

At last oil change, I found a pin hole leak in my #4 Induction Riser. Continental is covering it under warranty, but what scares me is that you can see a ground down spot where they saw a problem with it before it left the factory, and the part still ended up on my engine!! Does anyone have...

Is there any profit in refurbishing aircraft?

Last February , I purchased a 1965 182J "Hangar Queen" that hadn't been off the ground in about 11 years. I did (with a lot of help) a complete restoration. I replaced essentially everything. New engine, paint, windows, bladders, prop, hoses, interior, then added a glass panel, autopilot, and...

    GTN650 not seeing GTX345?

Sounds like installation problem to me. I just had both 650 and 345 installed and it all works together fine. Not sure the version i have, but will check. Only issue with 650 I've had is getting WX (altimeter setting, etc) while on the ground. Worked fine for about three weeks, then quit. Have...

    Trouble Keeping O-470R CHT's <400

Update: I called Airforms (who made this set of baffling) and they told me to make slits in the rubber so that they would seat better against the top cowl. I did that, and took a test flight. Definitely made a difference!! I think after a few flights the heat will help to seat the rubber a...
