    York PA ( KTHV)

Thanks for the heads-up. We were headed up to York last fall but heard recent PIREPS about the closing of Orvilles. I'll be sure to head up to check out the Kitty Hawk Cafe as soon as the weather warms up and my 'Coupe is finished with its Annual (which I just scheduled).

USA Today article on Hudson river landing

Unfortunately he, and likely some others, will be suing the carrier. They really need to sue the flock of birds - or maybe even a group of NY or NJ hunters who "missed" those birds during goose season last fall - that would make as much sense. It was an ACCIDENT. Unfortunate yes, but not caused...

Do you own your own airplane? Wacha got?

    The greatest invention ever....

Yeah, we, too, prefer an electric mattress pad. Keeping it on low, the heat rises and is trapped by the blanket - like being in a warm oven rather than under the broiler. :D

Fascinating display. And, as you mentioned, interesting patterns as "midnight" travels across the globe. :)

    The Final ConUS Challenge Update

That was a wonderful thing you did for general aviation. I wish I had been more involved - other than just a visitor for the last few weeks. But I have just gotten back into the air, buying an Ercoupe in September and passing my BFR in early October. I actually had an hour of instruction at...

    2008 Aviation Goals - how'd you do?

I wasn't on board the board to post any goals, but I did have a personal flying goal. Get back in the air after a 37 year hiatus: Achieved An unplanned byproduct of that goal was the purchase of my Ercoupe in September: WooHoo :)

    Ideas for Flying Contest

I, too, like that approach, and would be interested in participating in Maryland and/or Delaware this year. I have a low-n-slow bird and can't wander too far from home. :D On a personal note...I do plan to land at all of the airports in my area with an on-field eatery, take some pix and do a...

Do you own your own airplane? Wacha got?

Kate, thanks for picking up the reins with that answer. I have been at our new (second) home for the last couple of days and internet connectivity is not yet in place. At first I was a bit "worried' about taxiing in a strong wind. But I have found out that what you said applies. Although I...

Do you own your own airplane? Wacha got?

Just my li'l ol' Ercoupe. It's in pretty nice shape and I've been having a blast with it since I purchased it last September. Here's a shot of it on the ramp at KMQS (Chester County Airport, PA) one Saturday in November while on a lunch-run for a $$$ hamburger. But at less than 5 GPH, those...

Please help me get my friend married...

Thank you all very much for your support. Gabe and Jeff won by a very wide margin (more than 2 to 1). I haven't talked to them yet, just to Jeff's Dad. He said they were ecstatic when he talked with them earlier today. WooHoo - good for them. They will receive the top-of-the-line wedding...

Please help me get my friend married...

...with a really great wedding photographer. Sorry - I've been out of "Internet" touch for the last week - new house and connectivity has not yet been connected. My friend Jeff is marrying Gabrielle and they have a chance to win a first class wedding photographer for free. They are among...

    Preheating temp?

I won't pull the starter under 40 degrees F. My Engine was built in 1946 - majored in the 1990s - and I want to keep it "comfortable" as long as I can. Here in northeastern Maryland we are getting an early taste of winter. However, the normal daytime temperature right now should be 50 - and in...

One in ten mortgage payers behind

We're having to jump through all sorts of hoops to finalize our approved mortgage on a house we settle on in three weeks. Last spring we sold a place for only 10K less than the new place is costing ($350K+). This is a second home and we are "moving" from a condo in maryland to a single-family in...
