LED Nav & Strobe Combo Install

I would say I'll take 2 seperate switches over a latching relay any time. Stuff in airplanes breaks often enough without engineering in more problems and parts. JMPO Chris

Polishing a prop is illegal? This should be news to the 5-6 people around here running them...as long as the dimensions are within spec and there is no corrosion present the prop is just a prop. Prop shops won't "do" polishing because the prop must be returned to manufactures specs to be tagged...

Just curious Tom; why the high$$$ Tempest when an Airborne 215cc is $125.00 cheaper? I was assuming you have nothing in there now (no core)? No dog in the hunt, just being nosey (nosie?, Nosy?...) Chris

    A&P school glitch

After November of 2012 I decided to get off the treadmill and so I closed my business' and retired. After gazing at my navel lint for a few weeks I decided to finally get my A&P ticket as I loved working on airplanes (and racecars, jetskis, etc.). So I signed up for a non-degreed A&P program at...

    Skip bombing?

Skip Bombing? It wasn't just for them damn dams! In the 1942-1943 Pacific two squadrons the 3rd Bombardment Group equipped with B-25's and A-20 Havocs used skip bombing quite effectivly aginst Japanese ships. The 63rd squadron of the 43rd Bombardment Group did the same thing with B-17's... In...

    Advice/Assitance Request - Headset Jack

Gred; Be sure to use the same washers that were on the mic jack...most audio panels and intercoms need for the mic jack to be isolated from the airframe; if they're mounted in plastic you're good to go but if mounted in metal you'll need the plastic isolation washers. Just FYI Chris P.S...

    ELT Question

So what's the radius when your plane flips on it's back in the dirt? I installed an ELT that noted the antenna needed to be vertical +/-10* so the GPS could function. This was in a TriPacer. Chris

    Clearing the engine

Note the venturi that generates a pressure drop proportional to the inlet velocity. Dan You're right. How 'bout "inlet vs. venturi" differential pressure? Chris:(

    Clearing the engine

The throttle butterfly allows air to be pulled into the carb past the venturi in varing amounts. At idle there is not enough air going thru the venturi (where the main discharge nozzle is located) to pull any gas from the float bowl, hence the need for a seperate idle path. As the butterfly is...

    Clearing the engine

Actually the RSA FI systems found on most Lycomings uses differential air pressure (inlet vs. manifild) AND differentual fuel pressure (metered vs. regulated) to time, measure and modulate fuel delivery to the injector nozzles. The TCM FI system on Continentials uses differential fuel pressure...

Suicide Bomber Instructor Blows Up Class

Saddam WAS a really bad one...just because these cowards got his (or one of his sons) permission prior to blowing people doesn't change a thing to the innocents who were killed. I wonder if these bastards still get their reward from all-a-hall-a??? Chris

Restoring and upgrading a vintage panel

JMO but for the "talking and squawking" part you will need a source or power and that means a C-85, C90 (-12 for the acc. case drive pad?) or O-200 for a generator. We have a Chief that comes to fly-in's that has a nice panel ("new" vintage) instruments and in the center he has a Microair 2...
