Options for replacing a Bendix King KT-76C Transponder

You could replace the KT-76C with a used one for around $1500.00 * You could replace it with a KT-76A for $800.00 or so.* These are the "slide in" replacement options. I have put 2 Garmin 327's in RV's in the past two weeks that were also around $1500.00 but had to have new trays and electron...

    SPLASH!

Yesterday evening a friend called to report a Bo down @ DTN. One person shaken up and wet but otherwise OK. The plane was seen and heard by several people to come over the approach end of 14 at 50' with the engine popping and sputtering. Gear and flaps were up. It was getting lower and slower...

A&P gotta' have sumptin to do...

As I finish up my A&P courses at the end of this month I was commenting to the House Commander about needing a new project to hone my new-found skills on. What is required says I, is a simple fun project to replace the J5 I was going to buy in June (deal went North:mad2:). To my eternal surprise...

Tell me all about the Grumman AA1B

I loved my Grumman... One big pre-buy thing to check is the torsion bar behind the firewall. It mounts on the left and right cabin sidewalls and is supposed to provide shock absorption for the front gear. Position the prop horizontal and wrap your arms around the prop close to the hub...

    Oil filter cutter reviews needed

http://www.aircraft-tool.com/shop/detail.aspx?PRODUCT_ID=AE81031 Quick and easy. Replacement cutter wheels under $10.00 each! I also have a "pipe-cutter" type I loan out. It works OK but sometimes "walks" around the filter and makes a spiral pattern... Just my preference...

    PA-28-151 Altenator pegs at 20A

I believe the PA-28 series has a Loadmeter (meter in series with the alternator and showing how much power is required by the buss) versus an Ammeter (meter in series with the battery and showing charging or drawdown from the battery). I would expect to see a loadmeter zing up to 20% to charge...
