    Cool UK Airspace Video: Can Flight Aware do this?

    Nice video of a day's air traffic in the UK. Love the early morning invasion from the US and the holding patterns.

    Routine before flying "Fit to Fly"

    I try not to drink too many liquids, since my bladder determines when i land, not the fuel gauge.

    Wife doing Coms advice

    Eren and Bryan. Thank you again. I discussed both your posts with my wife and we've decided tomorrow should just be an enjoyable day for her and to wait a bit before plotting into cabin tasks. As always, i do appreciate everyone here at PoA.

    Wife doing Coms advice

    I appreciate the advice. the reason i chose coms is that we play tennis with another couple, both whom are pilots and own their own plane. After i got my BFR and took my wife on her first flight, the wife recommended that i introduce coms to my wife first. My wife is a gamer and feels...

    Wife doing Coms advice

    Bob. you know, i bought your book last year when i was contemplating returning to flying after 42 years. Comms have changed so much the last four decades and your book provided the scripts to communicate in a variety of settings. Loved the book and got my BFR in early August. Brian

    Wife doing Coms advice

    thank you everyone. Creating scripts, for now, is an easy way for her to learn how to do comms and i know, with practice, that she'll feel more comfortable doing comms. It's nice to know it's perfectly legal. On the way home, i'll be showing her how to turn and fly straight and level.

    Wife doing Coms advice

    Tomorrow i'm taking my wife on her second flight. While we'll just be doing some pattern work at another airport and then flying over our house, i'd like to have her practice doing some of the com work. i've written out some scripts for her, so she knows the information that must be shared and...

    Of course, you're right. This new feature is a great benefit and an opportunity.

    ForeFlight 6.4

    Well, now that i've upgraded to 6.4, and airplane syncing has happened, i find duplicate airplanes on my iphone and ipad, since i'd entered them separately in the past. Easy to delete, but a pain.

    Pilot Celebrities... who are they?

    i'm certain that the seeds for my becoming a pilot started with my watching Sky King and his lovely daughter Penny.

    Online planner import to Foreflight

    I love using Skyvector to plan flights. It gives me an easy, laptop view, of possible routes and waypoints i should select. Once i'm happy with the route, i simply type it, the old fashioned way, into FF. Adding an extra step to import it seems more time consuming.

    Crossing the Sierra Nevada, SFO->LAS

    So, what are the fees to land and tie down at LAS?

    Crossing the Sierra Nevada, SFO->LAS

    I fly out of Tracy (KTCY) and a fly to north Las Vegas is on my bucket list. However, when i preplan for the flight, i'm hesitant to turn left at Bakersfield and fly through all those Restricted areas. Have any of you? Does Flight Following grant you access through those areas regularly?

    Pilots of America Member Map

    Didn't even realize there WAS a map. Pretty easy to add myself, though, and nice to see other PoA members in the area.

    What’s in your EFB?

    Thanks to all who have posted so far. It's always nice to see what other tech-savy pilots are using.

    What’s in your EFB?

    Now that i’m a few months past my BFR, i’m curious if i’m missing any apps that should be in EFB. I’m running IOS8 on both an iPad Mini2 and an iPhone 5s. Here’s my current set of tools. What are you using? Foreflight (oh, this is so fun) Sporty’s E6B (I thought i’d have use for a digital...

    Night Flying

    In my second life as a pilot (i took 42 years off), i'd like to continue my training with some night work. while i earned my BFR a few months ago, i've spent more of my time since practicing rather than actually going places. That will soon change, but i'd like to get checked out for night...

    Lost Trust in Foreflight

    Oh, yes. I began my journey last November, finding PoA, reading lots of publications, and finding my trusty OLD e6b. After watching a video about using it, i practiced adjusting a route for wind. it felt fairly natural. Only later did i discover Foreflight, appreciating its sophistication.
