Cessna 172 engine out while on the ground.

I almost guarantee it was electric ac. You can leave on all the time. That's about all Orlando air puts in these days. They are great units. I've looked into putting in our planes. I wouldn't be at all afraid to fly in this plane.

Cessna 172 engine out while on the ground.

If it has air conditioning it is probably a late model 172. Some have total electric units that don't have to be shut off on take off and landing. It probably also has fuel injection and it can die as you pull off the runway in hot conditions. Sometimes you have to turn the fuel pump on the low...

    Tampa FL

Well that was a much better description of plant city policy than I was trying to give:) If your just starting doesn't hurt to take a flight at several of them and see where you feel the most comfortable and what is most convenient. When I was learning I would often fly twice a day so handy...

    Tampa FL

I think the 172 is 105 per hour and if you prepay blocks you get 10% off that. Still pretty reasonable. I'm not positive on the price as I've never rented but I glance at the sign about every time I walk thru the lobby. Don't think there are any minimum blocks you have to prepay either. Just...

I think plant city's rate on a 152 with the prepay discount is 85$ per hour. That's pretty cheap

Plant city is pretty reasonable. Planes aren't new by any means but haven't heard of any big problems. Several good instructors. Obviously I fly out of there. I will second that tailwheels is a excellent school but you will pay for that. Great people however.

    Flying with music

I do a lot of 6 to 12 hour flights. I have Bluetooth audio panels to listen to music and my headsets eat the battery's fast when Bluetooth is turned on but when I'm flying fairly low it's fun to talk on the phone on Bluetooth.

When is it cost effective to hangar your plane

I've never considered not having a hanger. I have bunch of planes and my hanger bill even with the discounts they give me is $18,800 per year. I'm sure my insurance reflects that I do hanger them. It does seem kind of spendy, but I don't have to worry much about the baseball size hail that is in...

VFR into controlled field.. Who closes flight plan?

For the pilots who never file Vfr plans this thread might have at least gotten interest up enough to maybe try one sometime. Nah

    Insurance question

I have a named pilot on a policy. Last year they charged almost a thousand bucks to have him on. This year at renew time it was like 30 bucks

VFR into controlled field.. Who closes flight plan?

If you don't close it they will start calling to locate you pretty shortly. Sometimes even when you do:)

    B17 Flyover

Watched it take off at sun n fun. Even with no bombs it didn't look like it responded like a sports car. Having been in several original b17s and being they are pretty sparse on avionics it's kinda suprising they found there way back to England. Course not sure designers really figured that...

    B17 Flyover

I had the b17 fly over my house several times last week during sun n fun. Several p51s and the warbirds woke me up every morning practicing over my back yard. All very distinctive sounds. The b17 was giving rides and was flying very slow most times. The p51s not so much.

    Airventure vs Sun N Fun

Actually diamond was at sun n fun but all the planes were at plant city doing demos. I looked over the da62 and they told me they sold 5 of them at 1.3 million during show and there were still few more days left. Cirrus was also at plant city doing demos. Eclipse thought they also might use...

Student pilot certificate vs. 3rd Class Medical

I'm not expert on this but my understanding is you go to the fsdo office and they will give you one.
