I don’t personally like the idea of pulling power at low altitude. It just seems like a recipe for turning a simulated emergency into a real one. On the other hand, that’s a really long runway and there is nothing like practical experience. I think if I were your student I would want knowledge...

Some of you know that I am just starting my RV-9A and that I can’t rivet. So I went to a building fundamentals class yesterday. Learned a few things, I’m going to practice a little more Ford I start to rivet my plane parts. In the meantime I am priming in preparation to assemble.

Since flying is a hobby now, I would build and race cars as a hobby. I am beginning building an RV-9a, I might do that even if I couldn’t fly.

I’m not being funny, I have no idea what it is. When I bought the empennage kit that I am building, I got a box of tools, this was in the box. I assumed it was some sort of tool that had to do with building. I have asked a couple of guys who have built RV’s and they have no idea what it is...

How did it fail? I have been in Ford parts and service for 23 years and have never seen one. Abuse? Yes. Damaged? Yes. Something stuck in it? Yes. Just fail? No. Nate, you are the unicorn.
