So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Yikes, that's certainly terrible and concerning. Not sure what I would do. Good luck.

    Is Texas GA friendly?

Personally, I'd investigate some of the towns NW of Austin like Brady, Llano, Lampasas. Or around the Brenham/College Station areas, some of the towns near there.

    Is Texas GA friendly?

The lack of state income tax in Texas more than makes up for it. When I moved to NM from Texas in '96, the sales tax delta was almost 3%, but now our tax is almost even (within about 1point depending on the area). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Which plane can carry a road bike best?

I've ridden the HHH a couple of times. Great time and yes, it is Hotter than Hell. One year the air temp was 109. No bueno.

    Landing Fees

    That's a good point, I didn't consider that.

    Landing Fees

Interestingly, while looking up something else, I stumbled upon the Aviation Act for NM. It's the laws governing aviation in New Mexico. One of the articles states: An airport facility that receives funds under the Aviation Act shall not charge landing fees for aircraft, except for aircraft...

    Cost of Written Exams?

If the testing site gets $50 of the fee, they are making peanuts after covering their expenses and paying for a proctor to be there.

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

If that's a bad one you're doing great!! Had another lesson today. We stayed in the pattern at KABQ since it wasn't terribly busy, so I got 10 landings in. Today was all about practicing landings and to be certain I could re-do my solo from a few lessons ago. Landings today were all pretty...

FAA vs YouTube Commercial Pilot channel(s)...

I've watched quite a few of his (and lots of others, too). His editing is really good. Take the latest video as an example. It's a 4 hour flight with 25 minutes of edited video...there's very little evidence of noticeable breaks in the footage. Does he use a checklist? I have no idea. But I...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I'm using ASA's PPL Ground School online. Has lots of practice questions, decent videos, etc. Congrats!

FAA vs YouTube Commercial Pilot channel(s)...

Watched it, another good video (in my opinion). I've got no idea, but I don't see a damn thing that someone should get upset about in his videos.

1st solo went well, 2nd one was more nerve racking

Here's a nerve wracking solo for ya. My first solo, first landing ended with me driving off the side of the runway into the dirt. So I didn't even get to complete my other 2 landings. Not exactly a confidence-booster at all. I was beyond upset at myself for screwing up. No damage, no injuries...

1st solo went well, 2nd one was more nerve racking

I count myself lucky that I'm training at a class c airport so I get lots of ATC practice. Either in the pattern or when calling to return from the practice area/other airports, I usually get vectored around quite a bit, so I've become comfortable with their instructions. Just keep...
