    Open Flight Solutions?

I like your stuff but what you posted is misleading. I just built a Stratux in a very nice enclosure with a fan using a Rasperry Pi 3 for an all in cost of $142 Rasperry Pi: $36 -...

    Open Flight Solutions?

I don't blame people for buying completed units. Sometimes it's just a matter of not wanting to put in the effort. If that's the case and they know what they're paying for, perfectly fine. I'm an Electrical Engineer and enjoy playing with things like this so it was fun to build.

    Open Flight Solutions?

They just packaged up a Stratux Check out Stratux.me or Stratux.co or Reddit.com/r/Stratux You can build one yourself very easily. I just built one last week.

Please! Help me lower my cable bill.

FiOS for the win! I'm garunteed 25 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload as a minimum. I've checked it all hours of the day and night and it's normally about 35/35.

    GA "needs"

This may be anecdotally true but it is not fact. Here are a couple of links to educate yourself: https://hbr.org/2016/04/what-do-millennials-really-want-at-work?utm_campaign=HBR&utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=social http://www.yoh.com/blog/declaration-to-a-generation-the-truth-about-millennials...

    GA "needs"

Is there a way to get this sent back through the rules making progress? Anything AOPA or EAA is working on? I hadn't heard of this before and is something that I would love to voice my support for, however little that would help.

    GA "needs"

It certainly wasn't a good analogy. I just built off the previous post that said "toy" and picked jet ski. Wasn't meant to be taken literally. A jet ski was just a specific toy but could have chosen any other toy really.

    GA "needs"

That may play a part as well but the overwhelming majority of my friends cannot afford and do not own a new vehicle of any type. When they ask how much my pilot's certificate is costing me and I tell them approximately $10,000 by the time I'm done they are speechless. Then when I add that on...

    GA "needs"

As a young guy by most pilot standards (I'm 29), the biggest obstacle by FAR is cost. Nothing else. When it costs anywhere from $125-$300 an hour to learn to fly, only lottery winners and upper middle class can afford it. The guy above me hit it right on the head, why is my cell phone $600 but...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I forgot that part of it. It's a training facility for Hillsborough County Sheriffs Department. According to Google the address is: Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) - Practical Training Site 14063 County Road 39 South Lithia, FL 33547 https://goo.gl/maps/BwhYKHFoQ9o No idea how it...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Today I went back up with my regular instructor and he asked if I wanted to try landings at another airport. "Why yes I do" So off to KPCM we go to do three touch and gos. I seriously sucky suck the first one. VERY flat and sideloading the gear. Get back in the air and my instructor says "I...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Another update time! Yesterday was the first stage check. It's a Part 61 school but they still do stage checks which I like. It was nice to go up with another instructor as he was able to explain a couple things differently that clicked better. The plan was to fly for an hour and review...

Customer got hit by a prop today.

James, I've tried to remain civil in criticizing Tom. While some have lost their cool, I don't think it's because we're "holier than thou", I think it's because Tom hasn't even been willing to even consider that he may share some blame in this. I certainly don't think he's 100% at fault. Not at...

Third Class Reform By End of July?

I don't have this problem but what about those diagnosed with ADHD? I find it extremely hard to believe that they are a danger in flight.

Customer got hit by a prop today.

Tom, I'm trying to understand something with your description of the events: In the first post you state that the prop hit him in the head, which I understand, but later you say that he grabbed the prop to move it. I can't understand how he grabbed the prop to wiggle it while standing in the...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

I'll definitely keep them coming. I'm finding it somewhat therapeutic to come home and write something down about the day. I can't believe I'm saying that as I've always despised writing anything, let along anything remotely similar to a diary. I see this a little bit like an extended notes...

It's one thing to be critical for the sake of being critical. What most of us are trying to do is instill a sense of safety culture. We're not blindly saying "thus unto Tom, ye have f'd up" with no more. We've given sound, well established practices that can prevent things like this from...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Had my third lesson this week, fifth total, and it was AWESOME! Home base is KTPF - Peter O Knight just under a 1,200 foot shelf of Tampa's Class B and right on the water. It's really an awesome airport. We had storms developing in our normal practice area which is to the South East but it...
