[NA] Do you use a home warranty?

Mathematically, the odds are always in their favor, otherwise they wouldn't be in business anymore. So by definition they aren't worth the money in the big picture. Does that mean that occasionally someone doesn't come out ahead with one? Of course not. Just like the lottery. Someone will win...

    Legal advice needed

I'm with these guys. Whether or not it's legal or illegal, if you are overstaying your reservation because of weather forcing others to not get a room they reserved, it's wrong. If you feel entitled to it because of your "status" then you're even more wrong (and definitely an elitist prick)...

always too high on final....how to fix

Definitely not. Power needs to start coming back way earlier than final.

always too high on final....how to fix

My instructor is teaching pretty much what MAKG1 is saying. Abeam the numbers: pull power back to roughly 1,500 rpm and add 10 degree of flaps. Slow to 70ish and hold. Let the plan descend however it wants. Roughly 500 fpm Turn to base at 45* from the numbers and go to 20* flaps. Pitch down to...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Alright, back in the saddle after not flying for about a week. The school I'm at uses the Cessna Training Program which is essentially the Kings program. So today he looked at my practice test results: 92%, 83%, 95%, and 95% and signed me off for the written exam. So I'll need to sign up for...

Why stick the tanks after fueling

True. I still would wager that between the filling of the truck, driving to the plane, and multiple filters at each point that there is nearly a 0% chance of getting debris in the tanks of the plane.

Why stick the tanks after fueling

Not sure why this is always mentioned regarding fuel tanks, trucks, or gas stations... The pickup for the pump suction should be at the bottom already and it won't matter if it's the first or last gallon pumped, it will pull in any crap that has sunk near the pickup. Maybe you'd get some...

    Halo/Clarity Aloft Headsets

Gotcha. I can't specifically say for type of earpiece you wear but I do wear sunglasses every flight without even a hint of discomfort. Also, if you did have an issue you would be able to sell them at cost pretty quick. A lot of people are willing to buy them at full price to avoid waiting for...

    Halo/Clarity Aloft Headsets

They do not have clamping pressure so you won't have a problem. The person you quoted was referring to the clamping on typical headsets causing pain, not the Halo/Clarity Aloft type The mic stays in place just fine for me. There are plenty of acrobatic pilots that have no problems either.

I have Halo's and have no problems at all with glasses.

Wanted: Shielded iPad Cable (Lightning Connector)

Maybe. I'm pretty sure all lightning cables are shielded. The one for my iPhone has shielding, I've damaged the outer jacket and there is an inner metallic shield...

Wanted: Shielded iPad Cable (Lightning Connector)

If they used a switching regulator, which most do, it's most likely the port. Ideally they would have used a linear regulator but the problem then is excessive heat generation...

    Going to therapy

Granted I'm only training for the PPL but training has been everything but stressful for me. I'm enjoying the hell out of it and can't wait for the next lesson. It's a getaway from stress. Only thing less stressful is a vacation on a lake with a beer and a fishing pole... I don't know about...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

We were a fair bit from the runway. Over the numbers I'm about 60 ish. Don't know for certain because by that time I'm not looking at airspeed. The final to the runway has a series of parking lots, then water, then grass. Makes for interesting rising and falling air on a calm day. Add storms...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Update from Wednesday this week: We did touch and goes with a 5-7 knot crosswind the entire time. Was really good practice but I could tell my brain was starting to tire as towards the end I wasn't reacting fast enough to some gusts. Still okay landings but a little side load on one and one...

    GA "needs"

Yea, I'd probably flip out if they presented something like that. I'm not paying extra to protect the lender. Same kind of deal as PMI. I'm not going to pay for insurance to cover your loss. Of course, if you don't have 20% you don't have much choice there...

    GA "needs"

What mortgage lender charges for escrow services?!? My lender offers it at $0 as it helps ensure their asset (for now) remains protected during the life of the loan. That's crazy talk, paying for escrow services.
