    How to pronounce Pilatus?

Maybe I'm "edumacated" but I know that because I worked in country for 9 years on the economy (not DOD) secunded to a German company. Actually, I have lived so many places that I don't know how to talk anymore.

    How to pronounce Pilatus?

I agree except the "u" in "tus"probably sounds more like oo in boot instead of the u in up. Of course, many German speaking companies just give up and accept the Americanization of their brand names. For example, Löwenbrau (Lowenbrow) beer should be pronounced Lurvenbroy.

Localizers used in a route clearance

Not on a clearance but I have used the KFSM - Fort Smith localizer from there to H35 - Clarksville. It is 47 NM. Worked fine at that range.

Recommended oil for 1965 Cherokee 140?

I too read an article. I don't remember when ( a long time ago) or where. The bottom line was that single grade remains on the lubricated surfaces longer than multi grade and provides better protection if the engine sits for longer periods..

Floatplane in "hot water" at Ryder Cup, or not?

I have seen something in the past where the FAA had no problem with city restrictions (landing times that were published in the AFD - or whatever it is called now. Don't land or take off between certain times for noise control). Was up to the city to enforce it.

    VFR Chart Symbol

Actually, I haven't been away from the POA. I just haven't been flying. I gave up on the DL medical two or three years ago and sold the plane. The present owner (3'rd owner since I had it for over 20 yrs) was prepping for his PPL checkride and I was looking some stuff up to discuss with him...

    VFR Chart Symbol

I haven't been flying for several years. Just noticed that the VFR chart accessed through Airnav.com shows a small blue square, similar to the landmark symbol, in the center of nearly every airport symbol. It isn't on any with runway layout depictions that I checked, just the hard surface...

Winter engine start options when electricity is not available

In a bind, dryer hose from Lowe's/Home Depot/etc. to pipe car exhaust into the cowling will provide heat but also expect impressive amounts of condensation.

Something about you that not many here may know

Haven't driven it - but I have ridden it on a bicycle. Used to live nearby. Have been higher with both feet on the ground than I ever flew my Cherokee (Mt. Whitney - 14,505') Probably the only person in the world born in a Campfire Girls camp (born at home -parents were resident caretakers).
