One thing that may or may not revive a 328 is to use contact cleaner on all of the plug in component sockets (there are lots of them). At the avionics shop I used to use, that is the first thing that they would do to an ARC before going any further. They would spray the sockets and then use...
I live in AR but was not aware that they had two versions of the drivers license. I'm glad ARFlyer started this thread. I'll be sure and have the federally compliant one before they are required. The state should sure do a better job of publishing this info.
It doesn't take long to recognize individuals who are rude, impolite, not worth respecting or listening to, etc, and surprisingly few "ignores" makes the board a lot more tenable.
Best wishes Tom. Falls are one of the worst types of accidents. Us old f-rts don't need to be doing that.
This is a remarkable post though. It is the only "Tom-D" post I've seen in ages where no one was jumping on Tom!!
It has been a long time since I did anything with one of these but I believe the TKM 12D was not a slide in replacement in the Narco tray. I think it had to have the tray replaced and was more like the ARC/TKM slide ins. It does slide in or out of its tray with no wire work after initial...
Lived very near there on the economy about 5 yrs. Your pictures brought some good and some not so good memories to mind. Like a cloud of black smoke from near the Mannheim airport where a Chinook rotor came from together and it came down with a load of German sky divers on board.
The condition of the spars in my 1971 Cherokee was nothing like that. It had no noticeable corrosion. It spent its first year in Orlando and the rest of its life in Tennessee and Arkansas. The video is impressive but would probably be representative of about any plane with whatever history...
It is interesting to track the path a package takes for origin to delivery. I live near I-40 about 70 miles east of Ft. Smith. It is a 3 hr. drive to Tulsa. I had a package from Tulsa go up through eastern Missouri over into Illinois before coming back through Memphis and then through my town...
Another possibility for leaks on the back side of a Cherokee type fuel tank is the "rubber" section of the vent line. I had that failure once. Lots of blue on the bottom of the wing but only if the tank was filled all the way. The "rubber" section slips over the metal tube coming out of the...
Get away from the pattern and just fly for fun for a while. Fly by looking outside and just use the instruments to check that the plane is doing what you want it too. If you are using the instruments to determine your control inputs, you will always be chasing them. When you ride a bicycle...
I went to Wal-Mart aircraft supply and bought a car cover. With some cutting and sewing, adding some snaps and straps, I had a servicable aircraft cover of appropriate material that I used for outside parking until I could get the plane under a roof.
I don't consider 3K ft. or non-towered field as negatives. The 3K ft. might be considered to be a positive since it filters out many larger higher speed planes from the traffic mix.
