    OSH 2014 -- Who's In?

Bigfoot to Oshkosh Social Club. We used to all fly in to Bigfoot ( a grass strip about 50 miles south of Osh on the IL/WI border ) and gather there on Friday so we could fly in as a gaggle Saturday and park together. One of the group lives nearby and would host a party for the 30 or so people...

    OSH Car Parking...

We have had people drive in and park their cars in the red lot next to the north 40 in the past without a issue. Not sure if this rule about no overnight is new or it's just never been enforced.

    Carrying propane tanks? Safe?

    1. You never said anything about a blue rhino tank, you said "a tank" which for most camp stoves means a the small green 14 OZ tank. 2. Now you mention packing dry ice which is more of a hazard then a propane tank.

Can anybody help with buddy pass?

I guess it's all in how it works out. I traveled from Baltimore to Paris last fall on a buddy pass. It cost me ~600.00 and that included the upcharge for first class on the flight back. It was touch and go on the flights but I got on all my booked flights.

Can anybody help with buddy pass?

it's a benefit that airline employees get that allow friends to fly for the same discounted rate that they get. It's a very good benefit.

    Carrying propane tanks? Safe?

I'll let someone else answer the legal question. Safety wise, I would think that a crash bad enough to damage the tank enough to rupture it you will not likely care any more. Could be bad for the recovery crew. Also if you talking about needing it for camping at Osh, you can buy the small...

    Portable GPS

If you want a android tablet I would look at Naviator and a Dual xps170. It will give you GPS and ADSB in coverage. The price is low and the app has many features that I like. The developer also works hard on getting in features that the users ask for.

Student pilot landing at OSH during show? Allowed?

Unless you are planning on not touching the controls, if you go with a CFI before you get your ppl you are still breaking the rules. ( receiving duel is instruction ) I would recommend even if you get your PPL in time, take a CFI with you. It will be different then anything you have done before...

You said he logged it in your logbook, what did he put down for the time of the flight?

The highest paid health care workers aren't...

Since when did have the highest education level ever guarantee you the highest salary? I would argue the article is flawed because it measures the salary of the CEO or the top of the heap to Doctors which are employees of which there are many at a hospital.

Under Bravo, On Flight Following and class Delta coming soon. What to do? BWI - MTN

Re: Under Bravo, On Flight Following and class Delta coming soon. What to do? BWI - M I had a similar situation a couple of weeks ago coming down from the north and Potomac told me to talk to the tower at Martin and come back to them after I got past their airspace.

    Who do they belong to?

and one of the reasons they just sit there is the owner or owner estate places a unreasonable price on them. We had a 182 site in the grass by me for 10 years because the owner had a prop strike, rebuilt the engine and then was too scared to fly the plane again. It sat they for 8 years then he...

    Porsche cayman

The 97 Boxster recommend interval is 15K I generally change it between 10-12k depending on when it goes into the shop for something else. That's every year to 1.5 years. Seems to be working so far.

    Porsche cayman

I telecomute full time so the driving I do is mostly non-rush hour and not the same drive everyday. I do wish there were more roads around here that I could play with but I have found a few out of the way places where I can exercise the cornering ability of the Boxster.

    Porsche cayman

I drive a 17 year old Porsche so I can fly. It's the best of both worlds. I bought it 8 years ago for 20,500 which is pretty much what I would have paid for a more boring new car. The costs of parts is way more then a Ford but my maintenance costs have been quite reasonable in the long run...

    Porsche cayman

I have a 97 Boxster with 143K miles. Never had a problem with the core of the engine and I drive it hard. Only things I have had to replace is water pump and radiators. Did first clutch and rear brakes at 130K. The RMS problem is real but it's not a given for any individual engine.
