    Airliner question

Oops. Yes, I see you were talking about turbojet, not turbofan. Reading faster than I’m thinking.

    Airliner question

Pratt and Whitney 2038 is a two spool engine used on the 757. Rolls Royce RB211 is a triple spool engine so…a solid shaft inside a hollow shaft inside another hollow shaft. Also a 757 engine. GE CF6 on the 767 is a dual spool engine.

    Airliner question

The 757 does not automatically sync the fan speeds. Once the after takeoff items are done I always sync them up by adjusting one of the thrust levers otherwise you can hear what your describing and I find it very annoying. The 767 the N1s are synced and as long as the thrust levers aren’t...

And yes Teamsters. They represent Airborne and others I’m sure, just can’t think of who else off the top of my head.

    Pilot Protests

The independent unions are also very involved in safety issues such as fatigue, hazmat, regulations, retirement age, security issues, etc. It’s not just about pay.

[NA] Help me plan a European Christmas vacation

Agree with Sluggo above. Been flying to Cologne for years and the Christmas Markets there are great. Always thought if I had to work a Christmas I’d shoot for a Cologne Christmas layover and do a Christmas service at the Cathedral.

    Shortest Scheduled Air Carrier Flight.

We operated SDF-MEM for a while using the classic 747s back quite a few years. Not overly short but it’s pretty damn short for a 747.

    Can Airlines Cancel IFR

At UPS, no. Can takeoff VFR if we can not get a clearance on the ground but there are several restrictions.

Setting Kohlsman to allow agl indication?

American did it for years. They got away from that procedure after the MD-88 accident at BDL.

    Cessna's recommendation on flaps

If you were referring to float flying in your original post then I’ll defer to you. I have no experience with that but if you’re referring to grass/hard surfaces then that just seems like a lot of extra drag.

    Let's Play "CRAZY METARs!"

Been many years ago and I believe the format may have changed but… former coworker flying one of our essential airoutes through New Mexico had an hourly showing NOTROD. Ended up walking over to FSS after landing (back when you could do that) to ask about it. Was told it stood for “No Observation...

Purpose of activating a Parallel Track?

I know in China they don’t like you asking to deviate X degrees L/R for weather. Instead they want you to offset X number of miles.
