    3NM separation from SUA

If I remember right Victor airways are 8 miles wide, 4 miles either side of a centerline... Some MOA's and other SUA's appear to be defined by the presence of an Airway along their border, offset by a requisite distance. Granted some airways penetrate some SUA's. For VFR thats your problem. For...

    3NM separation from SUA

This link will provide some insight, and lead you to a series of blogs that are somewhat dated but still accurate regarding ATC and the system. It gives some of the "why is it this way" from an ATC perspective. The articles are over 10 years old, so if you try to follow examples by pulling out...

DA and DH confusion on GPS and ILS approach chart.

Agreed... but the approach lights on a non-precision runway are not required to be anywhere's close to what you would find on a category 1(or better) ILS. At DH/DA you are over the functioning light array at 200 feet. At MDA on a nonprecision, you might be 400 vertical and who knows how far...

DA and DH confusion on GPS and ILS approach chart.

Correct, for alternate filing purposes the airport must have the required approaches and required weather... Once filed, IF you divert there (or anywhere else) you can accept and fly any approach you are capable of accepting.

DA and DH confusion on GPS and ILS approach chart.

Would make sense for the RA to read the height above ground at the decision point and have that be the decision height value, not the height above threshold or airport reference point.... Now, whether that's the case, I do not know.

DA and DH confusion on GPS and ILS approach chart.

One is read with a baro altimeter (altitude above sea level) One is read with a radar altimeter (if so equipped, as height above ground). Decision altitude is the point on a precision approach glideslope (or defined descent path) where you look up and if you see the field you can commit to...

RNAV1 and RNAV2 on STAR chart

It must be accurate. And if you are insulted, it must be something you are ashamed of. If you are ashamed of that, well.. thats unfortunate. Your English is very good, but its still apparent English is not your first/native language. People who were born here in the US have a different style of...

GPS-A for a straight in runway??

The VOR 26 gets you down to 337 AGL... but the straight in GPS only to 506? The approach courses are not overlaid, the VOR being slightly offset, but I'm not sure I get this one either.. The runway markings would have to be adequate for the VOR 26 to have such low minimums.

    Variable compression ratio for aviation?

Practically? No. This technology optimizes the engine to be able to perform well in multiple regimes (acceleration, cruise, deceleration where the amount of power desired, boost, and other parameters may vary widely over a short period of time).. and while that might provide a SLIGHT benefit...

    "Just following the checklist"

RNAV1 and RNAV2 on STAR chart

Yes. You can do it. RNAV 1 refers to a navigational system that has less than 1 mile system error over 95% of the flight, or words of similar effect. RNAV 2 refers respectively to a 2 mile error 95% of the time. DME/DME RNAV, inertial nav, etc may not meet this spec. IFR GPS equipment that can...

    Beating the airlines

Depends on if the major airport is a hub or not (i.e you have a direct flight or a connection?) I live in the shadow of a large hub city. So the hub airline does a lot of nonstop out of here, and all the other guys do nonstop out of here to their respective hubs. I could beat the airlines...
