A curious round spot on a valve, IO540-C4D5D

The pic is the right one. We could not take a photo with the borescope itself because the flash card in it was full and it was borrowed... So the pic was done with a phone, of the borescope's LCD screen, and it was outdoors, hence the poor quality. I don't have maintenance facilities at the...

A curious round spot on a valve, IO540-C4D5D

Have done. Yes I did wonder if it was a washer. There are no such washers in the air intake duct, and I doubt anything could have been hanging around the "tunnel" of the RSA fuel servo. What concerns me is what might happen if it comes off.

A curious round spot on a valve, IO540-C4D5D

Hi All, For the first time in 18 years of ownership, we borescoped the engine at the 50hr service. The borescope was very hard to use but we did manage to check all the exhaust valves. All were ok except #1 which shows no signs of edge discolouration but in the middle is a spot, about 1/4 inch...

Anyone tested GTX335 or 345 GPS data to the Avidyne TAS605A?

I have a TAS605 and am thinking of upgrading it to ADS-B IN i.e. TAS605A. It needs a WAAS GPS input and currently I don't have a W box in the panel, so was going to install a GTX335 to get ADS-B OUT and with its W GPS option it would also do the TAS requirement. Unfortunately Avidyne are not...

Bendixking AeroFlight (KI 300) and AeroCruze (KFC 230)

I haven't popped on here for a while but someone pointed me to it... I did that KFC225 "bench investigation" some years ago, after I got fed up with the smell of burning servos getting into the cockpit. Some random comments: The red disconnect switch is not easy to replace because (as stated...

Europe: UK to Elba (Italy), Croatia, Kastelorizo (Greece)

Europe is not generally anti GA. They just don't make any special provision for it, as in supporting a national transport infrastructure, which is what the US has done, and continues to do via the way the FAA is funded and in turn funds many airports. And a lot of airport "managers" have...

Europe: UK to Elba (Italy), Croatia, Kastelorizo (Greece)

This is the last video from the trip to Elba and Greece. Kastelorizo LGKJ to Ioanina LGIO (fuel stop) to Brac LDSB. Spectacular 0400 UTC sunrise departure from Kastelorizo. A good sound track too :)

Europe: UK to Elba (Italy), Croatia, Kastelorizo (Greece)

Here's a new trip writeup on a recent trip to Elba and the subsequent trip to Greece, going as far as the tiny island of Kastelorizo http://peter2000.co.uk/aviation/elba-greece The videos still need to be done; that will take me some days :) Most of it was done under IFR, with a couple of...

Europe: Shoreham EGKA (UK) to Mali Losinj LDLO (Croatia)

Here's another video, this time without ATC sound track, of a flight to an island in the Adriatic Sea in former Yugoslavia. Hazy but some nice scenery.

Europe: Shoreham EGKA (UK) to Pau LFBP (France)

Here's a quick and dirty video of a flight EGKA-LFBP. Experienced European pilots will find it a bit boring; it was done mainly to show a flight in the Eurocontrol IFR system It is rather more simple in the US :)

    Non-TSO for Certified Aircraft

A lawyer will go after anyone who has money, but the action should fail if the target didn't do anything wrong. If the A&P installed the engine correctly, how can he be liable? Same with a modification done IAW the regulations. That is a separate argument from who actually pays out without...

    Non-TSO for Certified Aircraft

Sure, but how is that different between having installed a TSOd part and one that isn't?

    Non-TSO for Certified Aircraft

Apologies for coming late to this thread... What is the difference in the A&P's liability between installing a TSOd or STCd part, versus a part which has no approvals (but on which suitable due diligence was done to make sure it isn't counterfeit etc)? AIUI, the A&P is not liable for anything...

For Sale Socata TB20/TB21 propeller TKS parts

These parts were removed from a 2002 TB20GT which I have owned since new. They are in a perfect working condition. Reason for sale: I have installed the full TKS system which replaces these items. The fluid container and the pump currently list at around $8000 new and the control unit is...

    Shoreham, UK, to Menorca, Spain

This is a trip report on a flight from my home base down to Menorca, Spain http://peter2000.co.uk/aviation/menorca/index.html A very nice scenic location and it was a great fly-in. There are two possible runways - the big one at €200+ and another one which has no customs/immigration and "avgas...

Looking for someone to draw up a Field Approval + 337 for a B&C backup alternator

Perhaps I should start a new thread entitled "$1000 to anyone who can process a field approval for a backup alternator" :)

Looking for someone to draw up a Field Approval + 337 for a B&C backup alternator

Yes; I am aware of that section of their website, and that is what one uses to get started on the FA. None of their STCs apply to my aircraft. I was not aware there was a process whereby one could ask an FSDO for a STC variation. Some years ago I met a pilot on here who was an FSDO inspector...

Looking for someone to draw up a Field Approval + 337 for a B&C backup alternator

I have sent you two guys a PM... or at least what I think is a PM :) It seems to be called a "conversation". The person who made a start on this previously produced a wiring diagram and a skeletal 337. I don't think there is anything unusual in the 337. The wiring is straight out of the B&C...
