The perfect GA airplane, in my opinion (looking for critique)

There is no perfect airplane. Airplanes are sort of like people in that respect. You know, they are imperfect.

KY to CA in an Archer II... how insane am I?

I'd spend all my free time in California. Way cool. Come in north of La and fly up the coast, above the coastal mountains and in the Sierra foothills. Oceano is way cool, walk to a restuarant beach town. They all are.

    Equity based clubs

Some previous pilots may have quit paying their monthly dues and just left their equity in the club. Could be one reason why the equity exceeds the ownership capital.

Panel failure in IMC. A few questions.

Not many realize it but an IFR GPS can make a left/right indicator that can keep a plane level. Remove the map clutter, set to .3 sensitivity, have it on a course line and it will display a right/left line that if kept pointed straight ahead keeps you wings level! Try it.

Suggest he pee in an old oil bottle then chuck it in the trash.

Panel failure in IMC. A few questions.

Vacuum gauges USUALLY fail with warning (they start acting sluggish). If the autopilot uses the TC, then the pilot should monitor the AI more frequently. Lots of IMC flight is done with the DG and AI vacuum, and the rest of the instruments electric. It works! To stay safer, venture into clouds...

    Looking for an A & P for pre-buy inspection

Find out what airport these planes reside at. Use Airnav to find FBO's at those airports and call them and ask if they have a mechanic. If no mechanics at the airport, find a nearby airport that has mechanics. Call around.

    YouTube Bans Firearms Demo Videos...

Gun laws are backwards. With free speech, the Federal Govt sets the restrictions. States are NOT allowed to restrict speech further. With gun laws, the Fed sets the Fed restrictions, however, states ARE allowed to restrict it further.

Calculating TOC and rate of climb

Its important that you know HOW to do it. Average the high and low figures to get a middle figure. Use that to calculate the time to climb for that segment. Do that for all the segments. Then add those figures up. And, get the RIGHT answer. Review your work and make sure its the right answer...

    Idle mixture adjustment

If you have a seaplane, you set the idle a bit low. Otherwise, you taxi when idling even if you dont want to. It sounds cool on the ramp too. rubbidda, rubbidda, rubbidda

How far do you lean while on the ground before takeoff

I lean for taxi, but I don't do the leaning until stumble. The reason is, I have a taildragger and sometimes need close to full power when taxiing to overcome the effects of tailwinds and otherwinds, trees and ditches etc.

If you want to be a Pro Pilot, what times are important?

Make SURE you get all your signoffs correctly. Don't take a checkride or get a rating without the proper signoffs. The airlines check that and need it. If a pilot gets into an accident, the lawyers will scruitinize the pilots logbook for mistakes. So the airlines check to make sure they are not...

    LLC or not?

What you would do is create an LLC. You can create one pretty inexpensively now, maybe $200. Google "create LLC". If you want to be sure you are doing it right hire a lawyer and pay his fee (750 or so). Get a tax id from the IRS for it and open a checking acct in the LLC's name (talk to your...

Question about ForeFlight Map Ruler feature?

The paper charts are like that too. A straight line is approximately a great circle route. The lines of latitude "sag". They distort the map. They have to. There is no way to draw an absolutely correct map of a sphere (planet earth (and its not really a sphere)) on a flat piece of paper. You...
