What are the regulations regarding off airport landings in a non-emergency?

The jurisdiction for whoever owns the land decides. County road, its the county. State road, its the state. Private property its whoever owns the property. Water landing, its whoever manages the recreation on the water. Forest Service and BLM land and state park land have rules on operation...

Buying an airplane without seeing it??

You can do it fairly safely IF. 1. You have someone you TRUST check the plane out. That excludes any mechanics at that planes airport. 2. It is in really good shape (some planes are and they are easy to inspect). Usually newer aircraft. 3. You find someone to ferry it to you. Still, how are you...

Shortest Landing You Will See Today

I landed my Husky in a 35knot headwind. It must have looked like that. I had full flaps down like that. My Husky stalls at 40 knots true at this altitude and temperature. (Its 40MPH INDICATED). Oh, BTW it wasnt too hard. Thats all folks!!!

Flying in the pattern which is the best option?

If it is physically HARD to push the ailerons over it is because pilot's arm muscles and tense. Pilot should relax the shoulder muscles and just gently push the stick over.

Flying in the pattern which is the best option?

A good pilot should be able to do it anyway the CFI, CFII or DE asks him to. You know how to fly the airplane, FLY IT!

    Tug/Tow Battery powered unit recommendatrion

I have a big (and I mean BIG) carabiner and I attach it to the tailwheel spring. I wonder if you could attach the cable to the mains or the nosewheel and just steer the plane with the tail. The winch has a wireless remote. Someone with a Mooney is doing the same thing I am. He attached his...

    Tug/Tow Battery powered unit recommendatrion

I put a winch on a vertical beam at the back of my hangar. Its possible to screw it to the floor also (keep it low wherever you put it). Put the battery on a piece of wood BTW (concrete and batteries dont mix). That gets the plane in. Right now Im pulling it out by hand but am thinking of...

    power jack Aviat Husky

Not a coax, just a two wire jack one positive and one negative. LOT easier to put a jack on a wire than it is to change the jack that is permanently mounted in the plane. If I wanted to do something to the plane, I'd put in a cigarette lighter receptacle. Then a car type phone charger would...

    power jack Aviat Husky

My Aviat Husky has a small (about 1/8") power jack instead of a cigarette lighter. It is female. I want to splice a male plug onto my phone charger cable (one made for a car cigarette lighter jack) so I can charge my phone from my airplane. Anyone know what jack that is and who sells it?

Would my AI survive a roll?

I spun a Cessna 150 and the AI tumbled. I doubt it did it any good, but it worked on the next flight. I wouldnt recommend it. Used to be the gyros had locks so they wouldnt do that.
