    WOW 100LL for $2.50/Gal.

Garfield County, CO. had a fly-in today and provided 100LL for $2.50 a Gallon. As you might imagine lots of pilots showed up to take them up on this jaw dropping offer. The fuel was served by Atlantic Aviation (FBO on the field). Regular price $6.24. The last time fuel was this price I owned...

Video of 7 hour flight from Denver (KBJC) to Seattle (KAWO) in 5 minutes with music

Re: Video of 7 hour flight from Denver (KBJC) to Seattle (KAWO) in 5 minutes with mus I liked those quick turns at the fuel pump.

    ADS-B/TIS/Whatever and TFRs

John, Thanks for the description of the pieces to the ADS-B system. Lots to mull over between now and 2020. I would add that you will need a WAAS GPS to provide your positional data to your UAT or 1090ES. Maybe someone will put all this in one box and we can stuff it under a seat. No matter...

What's the cheapest airplane you ever rented?

Back in 1966 I rented a Piper Colt (PA 22) for $9.00/hr. wet. CFIs were charging $5.00/hr. It was a well equipped airplane that powered the gyros with a venturi and featured a Narco Superhomer (with whistle stop). I think it was registered N5452Z.

    Anywhere Map

Iflyforfun, I have been using Anywhere since they began. The IPAQ solution began badly but over the years they worked out the bugs. I have worked my way to a Samsung Q1 which fits on the yoke of my Mooney pretty well. The op system is XP and it works OK but the sunlight washes out the...

    NOTAM: Rapture coming on Saturday

I was just wondering what NASA has planned for the folks on the space station. Return to earth maybe futile. Walt

    KLN94 database

I use a KLN 94 and do updates using a card reader that has King firmware installed. I use WindowsXP or 98. I have tried several different browsers and found trouble with all but explorer. King is not very flexible.

    eAPIS Ted? Mari?

Dave, I loaded my pilot and aircraft information back when Eapis began. It is still stored in eapis. I understand passenger information can also be stored as they have changed the software a little. You should not click on Submit until you are ready to travel. The few times I have used the...

Full scale biplane takes out giant scale R/C at event

I read on another board that the feds in Denver decided that they needed to monitor more airshows. They showed up at a show near Denver last week and observed many violations. If you are planning to attend any of the many airshows that are remaining, better practice your best behavior while...

What would you want in icing conditions?

I have a Mooney with weeping wings. The system works very well. Previous, to the Mooney I had a T210 and before it a Baron which had boots. Weeping wing works best but boots will do the job. Either system requires a lot of maintenance. Since most pilots do not get into much ice they tend to...

    Winter Park lift ticket coupons

I have a current Copper 4 pass. It is not transferable. I think the supermarkets are the best bet. Snow has not been the best this year so the crowds have not been real big ( no lines). Walt

    Mooney Fuel Tanks

Maurice, For the last 40 years I have owned airplanes (mostly Mooneys) with integral tanks. I would (have) stick with reseals not bladders. If you buy a Mooney remember the name Willmar Air Service. They are know what they are doing at repairing integral tanks. Walt

    EFB/XM weather unit

I cannot add much to the discussion but here is my experience. I bought the Anywhere SST (Q1). Works OK but sunshine is a problem. I wanted a screen large enough to display the entire approach plate. The Q1 does this and fits on the yoke. I still need to find a better way to mount the Q1 I...

    Mooney 231 vs. 252

AA5Bman, I think it you have most of the advice can be given on the subject. I would add that finding an exceptional airplane is hard to do. In this case I would not be as concerned with the model as the condition. I have been operating turboed aircraft for 30 some years and obviously like...

    New technology for Colorado

You are right Aspen is always going to be a problem because it is a one way in, opposite direction out airstrip. WAM might help a little but not like the improvement in traffic flow they got in Rifle and Hayden. A WAM constellation is being discussed for Southwest Colorado. It might be...

    New technology for Colorado

Just to turn the thread back to the original discussion about WAM. I was one of the volunteer pilots who flew around the WAM service area at 1K AGL last winter for certification testing. We had a differential GPS on board to record our flight path and that was compared to the recorded radar...

    TKS on a Mooney

JohnB, I would call CAV Aerospace in Salina. Their number is 888 865 5511. You might ask for Tim. CAV builds the kits, Mooney installs per an STC. Good luck!
