Embarrassingly Short legs. Cant reach rudder pedals

How tall are you? I'm 5'4" and bought a seat cushion to push my back forward when I first got into 172s. I later kept the cushion at home when I got too lazy to bring it out to the plane and figured out techniques that work. I complained once to my instructor that I couldn't reach the pedal flat...

As a jump pilot you had one job..

Wow...the pilot banked into the jumpers. They are incredibly lucky! I hope he shows that to the pilot. Congrats to him for being professional and not freaking out.

    OK, I'll say it........

    But first, where's the cake?

    Fell Out of a Chair

I feel what you're going through Ted. My grandma told me recently that she fainted while picking nuts off the ground. Little did I know until my mom told me is that it wasn't the first time. I've confronted her about it and she tells me she's had these fainting spells since she was a kid but I...

Changes to Private Pilot Airplane (PAR) Airman Knowledge Test

If they do change the test bank, you should be able to get the revisions through Asa, gleim, etc. I'm glad they are revising it. I got sick of having to explain to students why they are being tested on something they probably won't use.

    Salaries

No thanks James. I can get similar pay for a better lifestyle right here. They let us have our weekends with the option to take trips if called. Plus, under part 135, it's illegal to be required to be available 365. We are required 13 days off per 3 months. There are bright sides to 135...

    Salaries

Every now and then I'll fly a 182 for the skydive operation here. I think we get $12.50 per Hobbs hour and $3 to sit around. I honestly do it more to stay current in single engines than for the money but in order for me to want to drive down there it can't be frigid cold and one jump run. The...

    Salaries

I'm not under contract, only the PICs are. Something about flight safety being expensive. :P None of us like the contact idea but we know why. Many companies do this so its not something you can easily run from.

Yea I looked on airline pilot forums and found posts from '07 and '11. Must have missed something in my search.

    Salaries

Thanks Shawn! It's still not pretty but I'm not as far off as I thought. I was expecting our captains pay to be average first officer. Although it's sad how much the pay for charter drops in comparison to corporate. So the idea is to find a nice rich boss with a plane..got it, hehe.

    Salaries

Gucci, I forget the name of the company but I have heard of some places that you do. Most companies like mine have you sign contracts for PICs so that if they train you and you leave, by contract, you are required to pay some or all of it back. It only takes one guy to pull that on a company for...

    Would you help?

I hope this goes to show the people who ask for money for flight training that we are not heartless. There is a difference between what is being asked for though. If people come to trust you and you have a legitimately reason to ask for help, you have friends you never knew about. Help comes in...

    Salaries

Hey guys, I'd like to ask this as delicately as possible since I know money is a touchy subject (sort of like asking a woman her weight!) What do you see as a typical salary for a King Air SIC/PIC? I'm curious more than anything where I rate but I have to consider other things like benifits...

    What is happening to us?

If it wasn't for the fact I fly for a living, I question how much I'd be in to aviation anymore. I love flying but I don't have friends to fly with. Even though aviation is a common ground, a 29 year old female still feels out of place at EAA meetings full of 60 year old pilots, many whom don't...

Cat needs a kidney; Now I'm the client

That's awesome that you would go to such lengths for your furry friend. My kitty may annoy me sometimes but she's always by my side and will never judge me for who I am. I think that's why many people do so much for their pets.

Going into a college flight program with private licence

I can tell you how they did it at OSU (Oklahoma). I already had my private pilot certificate too. They did not require a checkride and gave me all credits relating to private pilot no questions asked. However, if I had known, I would have gotten as many ratings as I could at home before I went...

    Global Girl

Considering I've only asked her a question once, it would be unfair to pass judgement. She has a bad past im sure she is well aware of. Many of you cannot disagree you've done stupid stuff when you were younger. Unfortunately for her, it's made national news and is a scar she cannot get rid of...

    Pilots are cheap?

Considering how much it costs to get into and stay in aviation, frugal is a way of life. Although, there are worse things to spend money on! I'm pretty sure there are cheaper and more efficient ways of building and flying airplanes but we haven't gotten to that point safely yet. In the mean...

    Found lost cat

I can't believe he's holding it! There is a whole festival in Florida dedicated to them. People ate them during the depression.
